  1. I installed Lion on my 2011 MBP 15 i7 with 8gb ram and over the course of a day more than half my RAM is listed as inactive. I start the day playing music with 6gb RAM available and over time the system seems to eat RAM. If I restart all is well, any ideas why Lion does this?
  2. Major envy on my part reading that post! Al glad you enjoyed it.
  3. Brooklyn The Concoction I luv it ginger and peat smokyness
  4. Ric that's fucked up man and I am disappointed in JH for not refunding you.
  5. I fucking love mine but would like to hear the new units. The analog stage now has an additional gain stage that I am not overly crazy about but it's not a huge big deal. I would have thought they could have corrected the analog/digital gain issue in the dsp/software section rather than have added electronics but what do I know?
  6. I've often heard of the dreaded "mold release compound" and have to say I've never heard this effect over the many hundred of new records I have heard/purchased. The compound is part of the manufacturing process that allows the LP to leave the press in one piece. Kinda like pam spray on a waffle maker. What I have found is the "hot stamper" effect may in fact be true as it appears that record presses need to stamp the vinyl at a fairly specific temp to create as noise free a pressing as possible. I just played a brand new unwashed record and a regularly played and washed record (the alternate blues) pressed by analog productions and both copies had similar defects of noise that O believe to be related to vinyl formulation and or temp of pressing. Think about how perfect the groove walls need to be to represent perfect silence to a shibata/line contact stylus. Analog Productions has just gone into the record making business under the name Quality Records and this seemed to be one of the many concerns when they were putting together the new record pressing plant.

  8. for those with adjustable speed controls there is a great newish app called platter speed, it is free but needs a 3150k signal to report the speed. I've got the analog productions test record so it was free to use. I like it better than the KAB. It will also test 33 and 45 rpm speeds.
  9. beat it (pun intended) this is not the place for yo with that attitude

  11. Brooklyn The Concoction it is a beer homage tothe cocktail of the same name
  12. sorry to hear that RIc, it sounds like the gain issue is still not resolved based on comments over at HF. I'm not sure why Jerry has not volume matched the digital and analog gain on the input side so they are relatively even then set the output gain?
  13. I can't even post at HF on these anymore as that thread has just about drove me insane. There is a very slight hiss on the amp and the anti-crowd is freaking out. .Maybe I'm just not that sensitive to a slight hiss and it really is bothersome? I'd love to hear other 3a owners thoughts on this issue? It truly is a breakthrough product for me and I am very happy with it. In the next few months I play around with the V-link, I need to get my computer set up finalized.
  14. I was able to charge from a wall usb charger and play spdif digital input music no problem. The Halide USB SPDIF is my preferred playback method but I may try a few other USB convertors. The one flaw for me in all of this is going from a decently mastered 24/96 recording to a compressed crappy mastering is more evident than ever. The STP DVD-a of Core was amazing then going to the 16/44 of the second album totally blew
  15. Happy Birthday Mike!
  16. Al great pics from Berlin, gotta love a Ramones Museum! Stretch great pics looks like it was a beautiful day.
  17. Greg you da man! Happy birthday bud I hope you have a hell of a day kicking back bottles of $500 wine and cranking tunes.
  18. with the 3a connected to mini usb charging/digital inout and the halide to the spdif in the front I got no sound. As soon as I unplugged the mini usb sound cam eback on. It appears the usb overrides the mini spdif input. It is a good thing I do not listed for 6 plus hours at work or something similar. I'm not sure if Jerry can fix that aspect.
