  1. please let me know how you like it compared to the cinemag 3440 (I think you had one of those) I am enjoying my Cinemag blue 1131 but it may be slightly bass shy
  2. have a great time fellas I'll drool from a distance Pliny, great people and great gear
  3. Jeff Happy Birthday hope you have a great day.
  4. The Atmos and the 4D are the same cart, the omega has the same nude body style but I do not think it is strictly the same cart. That said I have not heard the Omega but have heard the bloom, yatra and atmos and love/d them all. The S designation on the cart means it has silver wire for the coils. The Zyx carts seem to sound best in the standard copper version with the silver sounding less immediate/veiled and the gold being the worst and most expensive option. I'd likely pass if it is a silver coil version but YMMV
  5. QFT most people dismiss some the vintage stuff without having a tech do a thorough service job prior to forming an opinion.
  6. the Cinemag Blue 1131 was nothing short of a major improvement over the red can 3440 The detail lack of grain and soundstage depth are all areas I though were greatly improved. The standard one is no slouch but once you put the blue can in you can't go back. I picked the wrong ratio version and Bob is cool enough to exchange it for the lower gain version.
  7. Mike was kind enough to do one for me! It is fantastic

  18. I had the Yamaha PX-2 serviced yesterday by a great guy just north of Orlando strangely about 20 minutes from JH Audio. The linear tracking was sticking from time to time so I drove it up and he did same day service! While this is probably not the norm it was greatly appreciated. He pretty much checked everything and took the linear drive apart, cleaned and lubricated the parts that require it. The linear drive operates with rollers that move along a metal surface and the prior owner greased the metal surface. Somewhat like coating the road with oil and wondering why you can't get traction. My table did not need any parts so the cost was $88 total. The table sounds very much improved with the top end way opened up. He can also do most of the work on the linear drive mechanism via mail with the customer taking out the tonearm and drive assembly. I was going to do that but I really wanted the entire table looked at and serviced if needed.
  19. I've always wanted a Nottingham and flirted with the 294 but went another way. Good luck should be a large step up from the Scout as I've always found them lacking life.

  22. In a moment of bordom I broke out the Yamaha px-2 that has been sitting in the closet for the past 2 years. Damn if this table doesn't sound great and rivals the Origin LIve. This leads me to a potential lunatic move of selling the OL table. I can get the Yammy tuned up by a guy in Orlando that would give me a good reason to hit Cigar City on the way back. The Yammy has the sticky arm drive issue but other than that it is great operationally.
