  7. Holy Shit I saw the Experience Hendrix tour last night Great Stuff, Billy Cox of the Band Of Gypsies played along with Johnnie Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Eric Johnson, Zappa, Robbie Kreiger, Eric Gale, Robert Randolph and Bootys Collins rocked out on a few songs as well. Bought tickets for Roger Waters (holy fuck $200 for a ticket remember when shows were $10)
  8. gotta hit mog today to look for some cool versions I know we have just scratched the surface
  9. Here's a run down of some of the versions I have: Big fan of the Mimi Fox solo guitar version Sting's version from one of his cd singles is under rated Chet Baker's phrasing is probably unmatched oddly most classic era versions do not contain the intro (Sinatra and Baker) while modern versions (Sting and O'Conner) use the intro verse Gladys Knight's version is an interesting take, falls short but a nice vocal take with a ill conceived arrangement Elton John should be tarred and feathered for his version very Liza Minnelli Kenny Rankin's version is pretty great nice pseudo jazz version Emilie-Claire Barlow, nice modern jazz vocal take a bit audiophile female vocally for me though great for a demo song Ella Fitzgerald (live version) this may be the standard others are judged by (I do not have the studio version) Paul Bley (solo piano) nice but a little sleepy not enough of a feel of yearning Oscar Peterson and Stephan Grappelli, live version and it is pretty great Sinatra, a little wooden for my tastes Willie Nelson's version fron Stardust is great
  10. after looking at my schedule it is a no go for me but I'll be up in August for my sister's wedding and hope to see the NY crew then.
