that should be a totally dependent on neck scale, neck radius and string gauge. You'd be surprised how quickly you go up in gauge for tone sake and learn to bend under higher tension. Super lights ion s a strat are easy to play but sound like a toy guitar compared to 11 gauge or higher
  5. Happy Birthday !!
  6. Oh you're making it alright! If I drag my ass from Fort Lauderdale to Lawng Island you can get your passport stamped and leave Manhattan. I will see Dinny on this trip.

Dusty I really like the Lollars but they are really voiced rather uniquely and should be auditioned

Dusty check out fralin pick ups they will take the sound of your strat way past the am standard sound. Also if you're adventurous try sanding the neck down slightly if the stickiness of it bothers you. Use a very light grit paper. These mexi fenders with some mild tweaks can be awesome

The problem with the PRS guitars is you sound more like 3 Doors Down or Creed which is a very non distinct sound. Buying a guitar today is a function of playing every one in the style you like. I've played a wall of strats to prefer some that were custom shop guitars and some that were mexi. Set up and fine tuning can be accomplished rather easy with a trip to a good local tech and about $100 depending on services rendered. I'd go out and play a shitoad of makes and models. I wanted to love and buy a firebird but after playing one it just didn't suit me. Neck and body feel are critical. Lastly any guitar is going to sound like the player. I've heard two people play the same guitar and amp and have them sound different due to technique. Mesa Boogie Mark series amps are screaming deals I bought an older one recently that sounds very good clean and has a killer distorted sustain sound.

I really like the tons of you tube song tutorials that are out there as well as technique tutorials Oddly I was always put off by Telecasters but recently picked up a cheap mexicaster and really like like so much that I am ditching my 50th anny Strat. Just need to roll in these Lindy Fralin pups and I'm all set.
  12. Wow that looks great

The ovations are a PITA to play seated as the round back slides a bit.
  14. Happy Birthday to both of you!
  15. Happy Birthday Ken!
  16. I do like the comparison with the caveat that at times I do like "flawed" headphones like some in the grado and AT line.
  17. In the end I do think this company will pull off a product that is equal to or greater than the value of the backers money. I just can't stand how they are going about their campaign. Isn't the desktop product the same as the usb plug in product just in a bigger case with a much better power supply.
  18. I've got the AK100 and while I love it, it absolutely needs the pico slim amp to make it competitive to the HiFiman 901 and even then the 901 has the edge in most categories. I am pretty optimistic about Sony's entry into computer audio and HiRes DAPs, if they can get me in the ballpark of the 901 sound with the interface advantage of the AK then I am sold. 128 gb is pretty solid although I would love an expansion slot.
  19. Want that pig!!!
  20. they turned my refund around pretty quickly
