  1. The gun is good..., the bear is bad
  2. Thanks for that - very helpful. What's the enclosure like?
  3. That I do, I've had some KGSS boards for a while, but this looks cheaper than DIY to me.
  4. I'm very tempted - but I live in Perth.
  5. I'm building a Xono clone. I need to match 2SK170 JFETs and BC550 BJTs. I'm new to transistor matching - Google has left me a bit confused with the amount of "suggestions". Any clues as to the best / most convenient method, hopefully with a link to a tutorial?
  6. I've been happy with my Thorens TD160S (S for "Super"). Far cheaper used than a second hand Linn, and not far off in terms of performance.
  7. You could probably pick up a used Fuji X100 for the same price.
  8. It's great stuff - especially in warmer weather. Try the moisturizer to match - it's also very good.
  9. I've had some fun over the years buying cheap-o boss pedals on ebay and installing some of these mod kits: http://www.monteallums.com/
  10. That looks like the same size body as a les paul. Am I right?
  11. The DM2 is a very special delay pedal - don't sell it. Don't tinker with the trim pots unless you know what you're doing.
  12. I still run a couple of OM film bodies. I've had my eye on that lens, but baulk a little at the price when the Zuiko 50mm f1.4 is still quite cheap. Have you used the 55 much?
  13. Crumple up the $20 and shove it up your arse. Simple audio tweak: music sounds better on any system after you pull it out.
  14. Can I ask your opinion on this phono stage? It's on my list of possible upgrades. I've got bugger all prospects of auditioning round my neck of the woods.
  15. Trying out my new lens - a very old Elmarit 90mm. No adjustments in lightroom, other than to convert raw to jpeg: Both shot at f2.8.
  16. Very nice, Crappyjones. I have to ask what lens/es you used.
  17. I finally completed an RC car kit I bought back in 2008. Tamiya TA05 ifs, if you're interested.
  18. I have a taste for good quality Japanese copies from the 70's and 80's. Although they will likely need a bit of maintenance due to ageing, I think they're the best bang for the buck out there, if you're in the market for a traditional style (strat, tele, les paul, SG). Look out for a good Tokai copy.
  19. I'm a criminal lawyer by trade. I've just spent all week defending a guy who worked in a tattoo shop owned by bikies. A wonderful mother decided it was a great place to send her 14 year old daughter for work experience and let's just say she got a lot of experience. This photo is somewhat jarring after the week I've had.
  20. Rearrange your listening space, buy a BHSE and end the upgrade itch.
  21. I have a t-1 that needs new caps and new tubes on my pile of DIY projects. If / when I ever get round to doing it, I can share my experiences with you. Soldering takes a lot of practice. I suggest you go to your nearest electronics/hobby store and buy some cheap kits with components and pcbs and practice soldering & desoldering on these. The t-1 will pack some very high voltages and the power caps may contain some charge. You need to be confident and have some level of knowledge and experience before tackling this project.
  22. Bugger. The very two lenses tempting me to buy an fx body.
