Well if you like fatiguing headphones with an unnatural sheen in the highs then more power to you. Biggie. -

sr60 is more detailed, has more prat, better imaging and more sparkle in the highs. I use flat pads on the sr60's. They both have nice tone, but the sr60 has more of a hump in the upper mids. The ksc-35's has more bass. Neither has good bass detail. Only the ksc-35's fit in my pocket though so I give them the nod for on the go. Biggie. -

A co-worker let me try out his pico at work today. I was impressed by the quality of the build and the sound. I tried it with my sr-60's and what I heard was an wide open sound stage with nice clarity. The pico is able to drive the grados with ease. This wasn't the thin diffuse sound I'm used to hearing from portable rigs. Biggie. -
APureSound KSC-75s. Anybody have impressions?

I could see a ksc-35 recable, but ksc-75 is the suck. Well really neither of these headphones have the resolution or scalability to make it worth it. Biggie. -
You have to watch a little ad before you can play a game with an apponent. And they get money from google for their search. I'm pretty sure they are profitable and the sites been going strong for about 2 years. Biggie.

http://www.moola.com is a free site that you can win money from. You can play simple games against other people to win their free money, or you can win money by doing internet searches (note no plugin is required). I've won over two hundred dollars since I joined moola. You need ten dollars in your account to cash out, and then they send you a cheque. If you are interested in joining, send me a PM with your EMAIL, and I'll send you an invite. Biggie.

Anyone tried the new button-less RS-1?
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to Salt Peanuts's topic in Headphones
Its easy to test the "button" theory. Rather then painfully removing the button on an existing pair, just put your thumbs in the middle of the grill and listen for differences. I've tried this on my ps-1 and didn't notice a difference in the sound. Perhaps John listened to the constant whining about the treble and the button, and did something about it? Biggie. -
I have an auction going every week on audiogon. People that bid on them don't really bid that high. Just lower the price on your item and you'll end up with a better price most likely. When I am buying from audiogon, I ignore the auctions. Biggie.

Ori modded Zhalou discrete output stage?
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to a topic in Home Source Components
Because Ori is a hack/shill, who has a history of not knowing what the fuck he is talking about. Biggie. -
vh audio symmetry (silver version). I like the tone of the cable better, and the silver is dead-soft annealed, so it doesn't add an edge to the music like other silver cable I've had in the past. Overall I find it to be a more transparent cable then the vd, which adds its own signature to the music. Biggie.
-
I had the vd master ic's in my system for a couple of months. They injected a fullness to the sound of the system. Recordings that previously sounded thin, took on a fuller sound, which was neat. I found their tone to be a bit dark, but many others would call this sound warm or neutral. The imaging and detail were both good. I've since moved on to better (and cheaper) interconnects. Biggie.

anyone ever put RS-1 drivers in custom enclosures?
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to postjack's topic in Headphones
With regards to modifying the enclosures to increase the resolution of lower end grados, I call bullshit. The lower grados just don't have the resolving power of an rs-1. Oh and I've listened to my ps-1's with no enclosures. The resolving power was still there. Rhydon mentioned the ms2 and mspro used the same drivers, the only difference was the dampening solution they used on the drivers. Thats why he was using ms2 drivers for modifying. Which means the ms1 drivers must not be the same, or else he would have been using those. Biggie. -
I feel the same way. I've never understood the love of the 580/600 soundstage. I like the ps-1 even better than the rs-1 for soundstage, as the music is a little less upfront, and a little more wrapped around your head. Biggie.

Zanth's GS1K/RS-1/MS-Pro/PS-1/HP-1000 Review Is Up
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to postjack's topic in Headphones
When I directly compared my rs-1's to sony r-10's, I found the rs-1's to have more of a 'smeared' midrange. So I could see why an owner of r-10's could come to that conclusion about another can. Thats the only time I ever felt that the midrange sounded that way though. Biggie. -
Zanth's GS1K/RS-1/MS-Pro/PS-1/HP-1000 Review Is Up

I think what your trying to say is that the best part of listening to them is the last part where you rip them off your head and then give a sigh of relief. Ok, that might just be me. Biggie. -
Zanth's GS1K/RS-1/MS-Pro/PS-1/HP-1000 Review Is Up
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to postjack's topic in Headphones
Zanths impressions of the hp1000 mirror my own opinions. They have a very dry, accurate sound. You know what else would be cool, if you would cut down on the retarted nonsensical posts. Biggie. -

All the gs1000 love ruined the review for me. I disagree on almost all his gs1k comments really. Biggie. -
Get the jj kt77's. They sound better than any current production el34. Biggie.

Can't edit my post, so I'll just quote myself. Those rs-1's were from 2001, not 2000. And grado started shipping that style of box post 9-11. Biggie.

Well my first ps-1 drivers had a pinkish hue, but some of the later ones did not (I had all kinds of problems getting working drivers in my ps-1's). It was explained to me why they were pink by a speaker manufacturer, but I can't remember now. Nothing to do with the vintage of the headphone however. I'm also curious where you read that some of the older rs-1's didn't come with any box? Biggie.
-
Thats the first version of rs-1 I had. That rs-1 was made sometime in 2000 I believe . I was the 2nd owner. My latest pair is black headband with wooden box. Not sure what year they were made, but they do look older than the first pair I owned. Biggie.
