Previous tubes I've had are: new sensor mullard el34 reissue (too dark sounding, smooth) cryoed valve art el34b (very detailed, neutral, best bass) winged sed el34 (warmest el34 I've heard, a bit harsh) nos seimens el34 (sounded like the el34b but with bloated one note bass) Biggie.

Yes my new el34's are supposed to be an exact copy of the old mullard xf2 dual getter tubes which is a very highly regarded tube by many. The last quad on ebay went for $475 dollars. I don't know how they compare to nos ones, but they are the best new production tube in my system. Amp is internally seperated into a channel for each speaker. Biggie.

It could happen. I got new el34's I'm pretty excited about. Clearer mids, more detail and less harshness then my previous tubes. They just started making these tubes a month ago. ^^ Also I'm going to talk to my amp maker about changing my amp and phones over to xlr hehe. Unfortuneately gs1000's are sooo last week. Biggie.

5 bucks says I'll get a headache listening to them at normal volume out of a portable source. Biggie.

My 30w power amp couldn't handle em! WHat gives??? Oh yeah, I have no gain on my amp.. I also suspect they like volts over current. ^^ Biggie.

Foam inserts are there for a reason. All phones that you remove them from sound less muffled but harsher. Its all about preference.Even with comfy pads on sr60 vs. flats you get the same effect. Biggie.

pfff mine are going back. These ps-1's spoil me too much. I can't stand the bagels+gs1ks (spiked highs ftl) and gs1k+bowls sounds like a sloppy coloured ps-1. Think I will review ksc-35 and ksc-75 instead hehe. I also hear a treble spike when I use ps-1+bagels... Biggie.

Hirsh put some bowls on your gs1000's. Then they sound like better rs-1's with more bass.Nice for my system which is already tuned to ps-1's bass. Biggie.

With bagels I was getting ear fatigue. With smushed bowls I wasn't. So basically I'm finding the treble too much with the bagels on. Biggie.

I'm not of fan of the bagel pads. They mess up the highs and the sound is too distant for me. I've switched to smushed bowl pads. With these smaller pads, the gs1000's sound like rs-1's with ps-1 drivers in them (or what I think they would sound like hehe). So far they are nothing special to me. Biggie.

Everyone should at least hear these headphones. They are the best deal in headphones. Biggie.

It had less bass then all those headphones. I think it was the boring mids, disjointed soundstage and thin sound that got me more then the bass. They weren't that smooth either. Biggie.

I thought the akg701's were pretty crappy. It sounded like akg's version of a senn hd650. If you want a senn, buy a senn and go have fun tweaking it with cables. My impressions mirror Aerius's on this headphone. Also talking about the bass quantity of each headphone is tough because you arn't talking about the same back end to each headphone. I've gotten my ps-1's to have huge fat bass that intruded on the midrange. Anyone who has heard ps-1's like this either hates them, or loves beyer 770's. Biggie.
