I'm not interested in whats inside the z-sleeve, I just want to build a similar casing. Biggie.
-
I highly doubt there is anything ferrite in the z-sleeve. Just by guessing I would think its some kind of plastic tube. It needs to be something that lets emi/rfi through it and maintains it's cylindrical shape and is cheap. I made a diy version with pipe insulation, but the insulation is prety thick and its not all that durable because it is cut straight down the middle. Biggie.

I was wondering if anyone knows what type of material is used for the inside tube of the z-sleeve? The outside looks like a giant piece of heatshrink. And the inside is some type of tube, but what kind of material and where could I buy tubing like this? http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/zcable1/sleeve.html Thank you, Biggie

Lol that keyboard pic was taken directly from the wikepedia entry for Dvorak layout. Biggie.

I would sell the cd player. SACD is a limited format and your dac gives you more flexibility. Biggie.

Ramblings on the importance of amps
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to aerius's topic in Headphone Amplification
Thats the myth Aerius is referring to. RS-1 scales up extremely well, but most people don't know that because they pair them up with mid-fi amps or otl shit-box highend amps. Biggie. -
Reviewers don't usually pay at all.. and if they didn't have much to compare the b52 with, I wouldn't trust them. Manufacturers send them the gear on loan, but that doesn't mean they get the product back. Biggie.
-
The b-52 is a great amp...for me to poop on. Biggie.
-
Electrostatics lack viseral impact, so you may or may not enjoy them. The only electrostatic setup I thought was really nice was omega II's with a custom 300b amp. Biggie.
-
The tube buffer suggestion is kind of odd. Just don't buy odd gear that would require you to use one... Biggie.

Lol, you own mega buck HEADPHONE AMPS and you are making fun of expensive fountain pens. You nerds. Biggie.

Can someone post the contents of the link for me? Thanks, Biggie. -
The only slipknot (people=shit) I listen to is on my test cd hehe. Some other tracks I use: radiohead - life in a glass house ->on a reference system this track each note on each brass instrument should be discernable, you should be able to hear the spit valves (shudder), and the instruments should remain smooth sounding as they climb higher and higher, and cymbals should portray depth ->on some systems the highs on this track just become unbareable to my ears pearl jam - corduroy ->on a reference system the sibilance on this track and the track should be toe tapping -> on some systems the sibilance can become peircing and wreck the song I also burned a bunch of audiophile test cd's (chesky and such), but I never bother with those. I look for systems that: -remain smooth all the way to the highest highs -do not contain colourations that polarize my music collection -can keep up the prat with any type of music -non-fatguing -do not exagerate sibilance -cohesive soundstage without crossfeed -pinpoint imaging and depth portrayl Biggie.

sr225 with bowl pads is painful. They need flat pads. Biggie.

Some advice about tubes/tube modes...
NotoriousBIG_PJ replied to TheSloth's topic in Headphone Amplification
The cryo valve art el34b were the most neutral el34's I have had in my rig. The mids and highs were similar to the nos siemens el34's I had, but the bass was better (taughtness, tone, detail). They are also decently priced: http://www.tubeman.com/item246.htm I would still recommend the kt77's since they basically do everything better then the other el34's. That link you supplied, all his descriptions are for use in guitar amps. Biggie. -
That doesn't change the fact that he sold hf-1's for $199, or that I believe the hf-1's are superior to sr225's in sound. And if he people pick them up, then they didn't have had to pay the $8 shipping. Biggie.
