  2. I'm planning to order one tomorrow, how come I don't have a tracking number yet?!
  3. Those look like the things they use to align the wheels on your car.

How deep is the, uh, "bass port?"
  5. Blessingx's made it into the postal system this afternoon, so it should make it just in the nick of time.

Can I mod my K1000 to have moar tesla?
  8. I'd say twice broken K1000 amp =
  9. I first got suspicious when the postman very carefully handed it to me instead of doing some origami trick to make it and everything else fit in the mailbox.

You know they're supposed to go in your ears right?
  11. Just to be certain: you've triple checked all other stuff to make sure it's not something like the amp, source, or interconnects? Hopefully it's just something simple like a solder joint that broke. Broken K1000 =
  12. There's no tellin', especially since I'm fairly uneducated wrt tube amps, but I highly doubt it's from a higher than normal output impedance, considering the K1000's impedance curve. Hahah, for some reason even though I'm extremely paranoid about working on other people's stuff, I have absolutely no hesitation taking apart and doing reckless things with my own gear. It's an absolute miracle I haven't ruined anything expensive yet. I don't know why the hell I didn't actually take a look at the filter PCB when I had it out last time.
  13. And something suspicious popped out today. Thanks Ric! I'll hold off on Immediate Satisfaction Day though, at least until I'm able to ship yours out. The post works in mysterious ways sometimes. (btw, is it supposed to be ticking? I hope they didn't break anything en route)
  14. Used a little of my xmas money on myself to raid the Telarc clearance sale on oldies.com again. Mostly budget releases, and all cheap after the discount, but there were some rather good performances in the last batch I bought so who knows. Lola.
  16. But will it be smooth enough to use as such?
  17. FTFY I was very disappointed with the GS-1000 when I heard them, but it was only under meet conditions so what do I know.
  18. I'm kinda sad that I understood that. \
  19. Actually I figure they're only making $8 on shipping... the ebay listing calculates it at $28.12 for me, and the UPS site calculates it at $20.12 (using their given 30lb ship weight, unit itself weighs 28lbs according to HP). And sending 30lbs cross-country via UPS ground will easily cost over $40. Ya wants the big HP tanks, ya pays the big shipping rates. What're you planning to use it for? A lot of the cost will vary depending on number of rails, maximum output voltage/current, etc.
  20. Makes sense... IIRC the K1000 has a really funky impedance curve with a huge hump in the treble region rather than just in the midbass as is typical, so a high output impedance would emphasize that range and make it sound thinner. However, now that I think about it, I think that impedance hump correlated to the reduction in treble caused by the filter PCB. Without the PCB, it may have a more normal impedance curve, in which case it might very well sound better with a higher output impedance (to compensate for the elevated treble response). Hmm... that might be worth investigating further at some point.
  21. I measured with and without it at some point on two different versions of K1000, from what I remember removing it had the same effect on both and just bumped up the upper midrange & treble a few dB. I don't know if I saved any of those measurements or not... I'll see if I can find them.
  22. I still think you should get crappy to level your floor for <$100.
  23. I install those things and am used to the sound, so I probably would've slept right through it.
  24. Wish I was there to join in the fun. I've named Scott my designated drinker so make sure he actually drinks my share.
