$13.39 for Amnesia: The Dark Descent is probably the best thing on that list.
  2. I'd assume he's talking about the newest one, since he knew about it before it was even posted.
  3. Fuckin' hell, I got no money, but Steve is trying to rope me into this one. Like Scott I'll see if I can conjure up a pile of money.
  4. What's a PR?

    And they never run dry.
  6. Hmm.. I'll have to give that a try then.

  9. Depends on the equipment, some stuff can tolerate a bit higher voltage, some stuff will say fuck you and go bye bye.
  10. You'll need to replace it with a 7.5VDC wallwart with a current rating 2.1A or greater, so 2.5A, 3A, etc will be fine. It'll probably be cheaper/easier to just pick up a new USB hub though.
  11. Okay, so after listening for a while tonight I noticed the transformer started buzzing again. The makeshift isolation transformer made no difference, and if I press on one corner of the transformer, it goes dead silent, whereas if I press on a different corner it gets much louder. Seems like it only starts doing it after it's warmed up a bit, which is why it seemed to go away when I was only doing short listening sessions. The new bias scheme is pretty cool though. I'm being cruel and using the K1000 on it, which sounded kinda hazy and dull with the original LED biasing, but sounds quite lovely now. I'm using some 1.9V green LEDs I had laying around for a bias of 2.6V.

It looks like he has a pattern of blocking people for little to no reason, and sending nasty and threatening replies to anyone who dares to ask a question about an auction. What a lovely fellow.

    wut.
  15. Well the power tranny has stopped buzzing like it was and the noise is very faint now even when up close, so maybe it was something with the power after all. I found a pair of transformers I can use as an isolation transformer should it start doing it again though.
  16. Good one.
  17. I've been wearing CooperVision Proclear contacts for the past couple years without any problems. I can easily get 18+ hours without discomfort, and unless my eyes are irritated for other reasons I pretty much forget I have them in.
  18. Definitely going to try the new bias setup when I'm working on mine over the weekend.
  19. Yeah, just gotta find two similar enough transformers around here. I have no idea where I stuck the box I had with miscellaneous transformers.
  20. I'm pretty sure I don't have an isolation transformer around here, but you do bring up a good point about the mains, since the wiring in this house (and neighborhood) is old and unreliable. Haven't had any issues with other transformers on the same circuit, but who knows. I'll see if I can scare up an isolation transformer somehow and do a bit more troubleshooting.
  21. I'll see if I have a resistor to put in, but it's definitely loudest if I put my ear almost right against the power transformer, and much quieter if I move over an inch towards the choke. Jumpers are in place, no noticeable change in level without the tubes, and it works and sounds good other than the buzzing. If I only heard it up close I wouldn't be concerned, but I can hear it from a few feet away with the top off.
  22. This is crappy we're talking about.
  23. Is anyone else getting audible buzzing from the power tranny?
  24. I'm just thinking about adhesive coming loose over time or the plastic stripping off the screw on a hard jolt during shipping. Maybe if you make the screws long enough to stick up past the top of the tie holder and add some nuts to it, then it would be more UPS-proof.
  25. Ehh... for big caps like that I would be looking at other means to secure them anyways.
