  1. Watched the Ali Project concert DVD that was just released... I'm not quite sure what I just experienced, but I think this must be what LSD is like. My head is swimming, my ears are ringing, and I'm about to go sail the skies on this ninja velociraptor.
  2. Inside dimensions with no foam are 15x11x3, and I can cut some regular foam inserts to go in it rather than the hard foam molded for a mic and shockmount.
  3. For a pair in nice shape and not all beat up, I'd say somewhere around $100-$150 is a good price.
  4. I've used the flightcases that come with AKG mics to store/transport other stuff... works great. I think I have some extra ones around somewhere, so if you'd be at all interested I'll look for an empty one and measure it.
  5. Ok so I cleaned up the stand all nice and shiny like, and I didn't get any improvement in the highs at all. What a gyp. Thanks Steve!
  6. Yay, now I can edit posts again and bring up the list of smilies and such. They weren't working right for me for a while in Firefox (had to load up Konqueror to edit anything).
  7. AKG K270 Playback is a great choice if you already like the Sextett-style vintage AKG sound, just make sure you don't get the way more common K270 Studio (K270P has silver trim rings like the Sextett, the K270S is all black). I don't know jack shit 'bout no hip-hop, but they were quite nice with most rock and jazz. The Equation Audio RP-21 is also an incredibly good closed phone for the money, if you have trouble finding a K270, but I don't remember it well enough to try to compare it to the K270.
  8. As well as making them quite fabulous?
  9. For the braiding part, about 5-10 minutes per 7 foot cable, of which there were 8. I used some kapton insulated wire for this because of how fast it can be braided versus PVC or teflon.
  10. If you'd seen how I live, you wouldn't consider those speaker stands a top priority for cleaning up.
  11. He does a reenactment of it at meets too, great fun.
  12. Decided to make some new speaker cables, but since the biggest wire I had in any quantity was 20 gauge I had to braid a metric arseload of wire: I think it looks pretty good in the end though, even if I haven't yet gotten some new banana plugs that all actually match:

    No, usually they're worse.

    Oh man, that was hilarious.
  15. The Fry's in Duluth, GA is pretty bad... DIY stuff is mostly way overpriced, and you often can't browse a lot of sections because of the employees just loitering in crowds in the middle of aisles.
  16. How do you get one of them anyways, used only? I remember seeing them on a webstore a while back, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
  17. Why would somebody even omit the resistor to ground after the output cap in the first place? Is there supposed to be some kind of benefit to doing it that way?
  18. Don't bring logical and practical solutions into this! Spraypaint the motherfucker.
  19. Spent several hours working on a circuit in LTspice and giving myself a major headache in the process.
  20. Sounds like someone's gonna have a good time.
  21. So if "abruptly and with a square shape" is not a square wave, then what is it?
  22. No, it's not analog, unless you simply throw out the actual meaning of "digital." The electrical signal only has two discrete states, it isn't continuously variable between those two states.
