  1. Still trying to buy my craps, server is crawling...
  2. AKG Hearo 999 Audiosphere Signal Processor / Headamp for $50 Not expecting much out of it as an amp, but if the processing is even half-decent I can split the DAC output and put the processor in line with the 2nd input on the Total Eclipse.
  3. I think I got like 3 of them in large, if you want one man it's no problem.
  4. That's one sleek toaster.
  5. Thanks guys! That's the plan.
  6. Heh, nah, it's my parent's house, I'm just staying here for now because the rent is cheaper (and due to some special circumstances... ingwe knows what I mean), which means I've also become the guy stuck with doing home repairs and improvements. It's a kitchen remodel... removing the wall between it and the "dining room" (a useless tiny area off the living room) to make it much bigger and more open, and also allowing an island to be added. Also widened the doorway between the kitchen and the entry hallway today. The linoleum floors (and carpet from the "dining room") are all being replaced with new hardwood floors (contractor is gonna fix a couple sagging joists to level out the floor before we can put it down... it's an old house), getting new cabinets and granite countertops (bye bye formica), recessed can lighting, actual sheetrock on the walls instead of wood paneling, etc. Already got new appliances last year, and have previously built a pantry off part of the "breakfast area" (which is bigger than the so-called "dining room") since it was wider than the main part of the kitchen (L-shaped). I spent a good part of today crawling around in the attic to reroute more electrical wiring. Fuckin' attic has about 3' at the apex and 18" where the light fixtures were, and when new insulation was put in at some point the idiots ran it perpendicular to the joists to save effort so it's not like I could just get a good spot laying down on my side across the joists. Oh, and to get into said attic, you have to go into the basement, and climb up a "ladder" made across the top of the stairwell. So yeah, today pretty much sucked.
  7. Ripped out the kitchen cabinets, tore down a wall, rerouted some electrical wires, started to pull up the old flooring, etc.
  8. Yeah, I was a longtime Slack user but switched to Arch last year and it's been pretty sweet.
  9. Indeed
  10. Spent the entire afternoon trying to get ALSA to work right following a system upgrade to the latest version of ArchLinux and getting rid of many of my old patched together config files. Turns out in ALSA these days you have to mute "IEC958 Optical Raw Playback" to get regular PCM output over SPDIF. KDE 4.2.1 is definitely a vast improvement over the earlier versions of KDE4 though (the KDE team has really pulled their act together on this)... now I can finally stop using KDE3. Konqueror is also usable again, so I don't have to keep using FireFox either.
  11. Needs moar blackgates, ya know.
  12. Ok, technically I haven't changed my avatar, it just got real douchenozzly all of a sudden.
  13. Can we save this post to remember in another ten years and have a good laugh?
  14. We had snow down here in Atlanta. What the hell is up with that?
  15. I've used this avatar for years, I'm not about to change it for that asshat.
  16. Duvet is the OP theme, that's the 3" single for it.
  17. Had to reposition some shelves and move some books elsewhere to make room for the latest acquisitions: Yeah, I definitely don't have too much Lain crap...
  18. Yeah those avatars are kinda creepin me out.
  19. Finally put some proper bananas on those cables...
  20. I won't believe this unless it was one of those fancy wood capacitors.
  21. Where'd you find the brilliant tech who did that?

    @ captain obvious
  25. Yeah... I kinda wish I had gotten there sooner, or at least ran into him before he left. Might've been able to stick together and help him have a better time there. It was hard to spot any of the HF/HC members there, I think most that came from either site were newer members, not much for established members. I did run into this one new guy from HF who was very enthusiastic about the hobby, and would definitely fit in at a regular meet (he *gasp* wanted to -talk- about gear and listen without judging based on the price tag), although I think ingwe got annoyed by him later on in the meet.
