M-W defines a sample as "an excerpt from a musical recording that is used in another artist's recording." Usually, samples are taken out of context of the original, and put to a different purpose. It was not the phyiscal or virtual location of the monitor that was the issue, but rather which monitor windows identifies at "1" or "2." This appears to be tied to the DVI outs, and isn't switchable. That said, I was able to solve the issue with trial an error. Windows does like to muck up the screen resolution. 0_o Owning a Mac laptop for a month now has not fostered any warm feelings toward my PC.
