OH HAY, I totally missed this thread earlier.

Sorry about your loose screw, and the one in the preamp too! Buh dum bump!
Good luck with that. I had that disappointment recently but it's better to find out now than to fry the thing.
Waitaminnit, is DOTU mocking me for having a loose screw* in one breath and then telling me the damage his loose screw caused with the next? You really are a lawyer. /me ducks
After painful long minutes removing the umpteen screws from the top of the LS9, I got the panel off, and found ...a plastic fiddly bit floating around in there.
Terrible picture, the Canon EF 17-40 F/4L is about the farthest thing from a macro lens. I don't think it would have shorted anything out, but I'm glad I got it out of there.
Coming soon to a certain other thread: LS9 internal pix I had not intended on taking.
*A fact that should be rather apparent at this point.

NP: "Sporting a woody" by Dangerous Toys
I am sad to say, I remember this song.
Crazy cat lady dance. Supposedly there are 130 of them in this picture.

I have had problems with FedEx and UPS. Mostly misplaced, delayed and misdelivered packages. Fortunately I have never had to file a claim with either, I hope that day never comes.
I have never lost a package, had a package damaged or had to call, deal with, or yell at a postal worker. Perhaps its a fluke, but USPS has never failed for me, both domestic and international. Plus, if you go into your local post office often enough you get to know them and they get to know you. It doesn't hurt to bring homemade pumpkin bread during Christmas
OT: What I did today: Nailed my presentation at work, the boss was impressed and they want to subscribe to my newsletter. So that's good.
x2 on pretty much all of this. I have sent and received some huge, expensive items (DMX-512 lights) via USPS with little or no problems. I should keep a logbook for the problems I had with UPS. It used to be, 10 or so years ago, that FedEx was the more expensive, better alternative to "Brown." I'm quite sure that the "better" part no longer applies. FedEx are so incompetent that I'm going to start calling them "Fudd Ex." huhuhuhuhuh.
I had good luck with DHL while they did business in this country, but that was only involving a handful of items.
FedEx has fucked up 2 deliveries for me in the last 2 weeks. Did you wait all day?I did indeed, re-arranging my whole day so I could be here to sign for the package. I wasted all day yesterday and 2/3 of today. Finally, at 3:45 this afternoon this arrived:
...and inside the huge box was this:
Unfortunately, it rattles like there's a loose screw or component inside of it.
I'm going to let it get up to room temperature and then see about taking it apart and investigated.

Well after using the DV-980H for a few days I can definitely say I'm pretty happy with it. It took a bit of playing with different resolutions and video settings on both the player and the TV, but now everything is looking a lot better than my old Denon. It is a bit revealing of faults in the source video, but anything with at least a semi-decent transfer and isn't overly compressed looks great. It also has a gamma adjustment that the DV-981HD didn't have, which is immensely useful since the Panasonic's gamma curve is slightly off and non-adjustable.
Cool. Is the main advantage of the 981HD over the 980H that the former has the supposedly better video chipset? Apart from that the 980H seems like a more feature-rich unit. Have you tried the USB input on it yet? I'm also curious how Oppo players handle scratched disks.

Knowing Tyll's deep, abiding love for Electrostats, I think it's fair to say that his favorite dynamic is his favorite can.
I wonder, has Tyll ever heard the Fugs (TakeT H2s.) If so, I'm curious what he'd think. Not that he would have heard them driven properly. Not that anybody has heard them driven properly.

Did they show up? They failed to deliver my package that was "on fedex vehicle for delivery" at 4:30am.
As of 7:34PM, no.

That's awesome, considering...well, not what it originally said, but what it was based on (the Fawlty Towers "Germans" episode). What did the Newman (?) one say, originally?
"Don't mention the waughs." I assume that makes perfect sense if you're Australian.

Damnation, I wish all those Senn fanboys would fuck off the boards while I'm trying to read my ortho threads. The server's too busy... with Sennheisers.
I get more usage out of what was supposed to be a one-off joke.

I hope Jude backed things up recently.
