My message was slightly different: Dear XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX, We would like to thank you for your recent order:XXXXXXXX, for the Seagate Backup Drive. We regret to inform you that we had received erroneous ETA information and the 4TB drive won't actually be available from the manufacturer until the end of the year. Since they are not able to provide us a shipment any sooner, we were able to make arrangements to offer you a slightly used dismembered sheep carcass which we will receive within 3 weeks. Unfortunately we cannot offer any discount on this premium carcass as they are a hot commodity right now (as is to be expected.) We even told Bob in HR that we wanted to keep it for ourselves and not send it to you as it was such a steal but he reminded us of the paramount importance of the customer here at Tiger Direct. This carcass will be automatically substituted for your hard drive unless you cancel your order by 6/15/12. We apologize for not being able to provide the exact item you ordered and hope you are satisfied with this proposed substitute. We hope you don’t, but should you choose to cancel your order altogether please click the “Cancel My Order" link below. This will take you to a mandatory questionnaire that must be completed in order to cancel your order. Well, not so much a questionnaire as this year's MCAT's. You must pass it to continue with your cancellation. Once completed, you will be provided with a phone number to call and cancel your order. You must dial this number between 12:00-12:03 Siberian time on a rotary phone to be connected with our Order Cancellation Department. They only speak sign language. Once you have informed them of your desire to cancel your order, they will transfer you to the accounting department. Please have your order number and understanding of Calculus at the ready. Once you have satisfied their questions and sacrificed to their Pagan diety "The Stapulator", you will be sent an email containing a link that you must click to confirm your cancellation. Well, it will actually be sent to someone else. You have to guess who. If this whole process takes longer than 15 minutes, your cancellation process will automatically be cancelled. Please advise us of your decision at your earliest convenience. Customer service is of the utmost importance to us here at Tiger Direct, where our brows are creased with your worries and our smiles are cracked in your joy. Sincerely, The Master Bait and Switchers Tiger Direct Customer Service employee #00037212

Go to the user's page, select "find content" button on the right side. On the content page there is "see this member's", select "only posts." Just tried it on a random profile (BlessingX) and it went back to Oct 2011. Edit- beaten to the punch. Looks like the common denominator between your page and BlessingX's is they both go back 40 pages. Guess that's the max index.

This whole idea assumes that people know what they like more than designers and engineers. That's placing an awful lot of confidence in the consumer who often doesn't know what to think until told. I'd expect lots of V-curves deeper than an 80's glam-rock group's plunging necklines. Resale on this thing has to be terrible - you'd have to find someone with your exact sonic preferences who would then reshell (which UE does not offer as a service to its customers.) What I'd really like is a UERM connected to a box like a JH3A with Bricasti-like filters. That way it would fit whatever preference you seem to have that day.

That video is horrifying.

You can hook up to a NAS via ethernet. Part of their whole pitch is how perfectly it plays back files located on its internal drive with proprietary software so it would be great if you could transfer the external storage onto the unit itself. Still a pretty great unit - Tim actually had to stop selling Resolution gear due to conflict of interest with the Bladelius line that he picked up. There's a whole lot of these music servers cropping up and the Bladelius does have a good balance of functionality and cost.
-
I discussed this unit a couple weeks ago with Tim Ryan of Simplifi Audio (who I bought my Resolution system with.) The lower storage units are sanely priced but the 2TB version is 10K (Not all on SSD drives despite what the ad copy implies.) The issue I have with these types of media players is their proprietary storage systems mean re-ripping all your discs if you want to utilize the internal memory. If it allowed you to transfer the files from your computer (or NAS or what have you) it would save a whole lot of time. It works the other way too - once ripped into internal memory, no simple way of pulling it off and transferring to a backup drive. These issues are not unique to the Embla but are a major inconvenience in a unit that's supposed to be all about convenience. It is beautiful though.

The reason Amazon Local is split up into local regions is because most offers are for services/goods located locally. Not much point in me having a discounted massage that would take 6 hours to drive to (unless it's a really good massage.) When an "Amazon Living Services" deal comes up (usually BMVD on amazon.com) it is usually universal but sometimes targeted. When this happens, you can search for a location that has it and purchase it (in other words, your living in Colorado or wherever doesn't prevent you from buying a deal in Wisconsin.) If you select Illinois-->Chicago - North Suburbs it will be on the bottom.
-
It may not show up as the "main deal" - it could be in the "nearby deals" section you scroll through on the bottom of the page.

Marcel from Antelope said it should run about 10K.

I remember that Hitchhiker's story as the academics and menial workers (or the useful two-thirds) staying on the planet but they sent the useless third (telephone sanitizers, management consultants, marketing executives etc) to another planet ostensibly because of a giant mutant star goat, but in reality to rid themselves of their fifth wheel. The irony was that all the intellectuals and worker types were later wiped out through a plague caused by dirty telephones.

I wouldn't go straight to A Love Supreme with Coltrane. Giant Steps is a good first foray into Coltrane. There's a lot of directions you could take once you get into Miles. Here are a few options: Eric Dolphy Out to Lunch (Avant Garde) Dexter Gordon Go (Hard Bop) Canonball Adderly Somethin Else (Hard Bop/Cool Jazz) Lee Morgan Sidewinder (Modal Jazz) Horace Silver Song For My Father (Latin/Funk/Bossa Nova) Bill Evans Alone (Post-Bop/Introspective) The New Tony Williams Lifetime Believe It (Jazz Fusion)

Audeze, Beyer, Grado, Hifiman, Senn, Ultrasone. Headphone amps by Burson, Cavalli (though I don't think they'll have the LL) and Hifiman. Even though they don't have the HD800 listed on their site they do sell it.

Steve at CableCo told me about this a while back. Glad to see they're finally implementing it- I believe Yikes had something to do with it. Another cool thing is their frequent flyer program, which can give you some great deals on the pricier flagships.

It's a source of some contention. I was told by a Senn rep that they had played with the FR slightly. He told me they even had graphs that he could email me. Then after talking to the head of production he backpedaled. I've owned three pairs, once when they first came out and most recently purchased a month ago. I'd like to say there are slight differences but too much time has passed and pieces changed in the rig. Senn specializes in dynamic transducers. With the amount of time the HD800 spent in R&D, any changes left to make were minor tweaks. The mod has a greater effect than any production variations. The mod that's being discussed is the Anaxilus mod.

He's gone commercial but claims he isn't making any money. Honestly, if he had someone else with even rudimentary social skill and a less conspiratorial bent to run the blog and forum posts while he sat back and designed his product would be better received and his cause would be furthered to a wider swath of people. He's hurting his own cause. Unless his cause is an ego boost through denigration of respected designers - if I wanted to choose a designer to 'expose' it would not be Pass.

Schiit has a 15-day money back guarantee on all their products. To demo just order and return (which they're fine with.)
