Killrockstars is having a special on "An Introduction To Elliott Smith" today only for his 43rd Birthday. $4.99 FLAC digital download. It's missing some great tracks from his Dreamworks years, but a good compilation nonetheless.

Tyll, thanks for finally doing a treatment of the Audeze headphones. One thing to mention is the gap between the LCD-2's and LCD-3's gets smaller when you use the 3's pads on the 2's. Unfortunately, they won't sell the new pads to LCD-2 owners though.

These sales reps are usually chosen for their charisma and the fact that they don't shun sunlight like the engineers. You can tell the Beyer engineers from the rest because they wear surgical blue gloves everywhere they go.

The A1 has a 100 ohms output impedance.
-
Its a solid state amp - I'd be surprised it it's more than 1 ohm. Edit - beat to it.

I figured the window was just a design choice, although an odd one for a solid state device (why have a window unless it's to see the perty toobs) like the AMR DP-777 or, in the headphone world, the LF. I guess even for solid state its nice to have a window, if just to dispel the notion that amps are boxes of magic.

Higher output impedance on the amp actually increases the bass and low mid response. There's some graphs around of 0 vs 120 vs 680, I'll try to dredge them up. I would not be surprised if Sennheiser's new amp actually hewed to the 120 IEC spec (as Donald North claims ze germans do) as that would accentuate the bass and lower mids, which seems to be what many listeners prefer these days.

If it's been confirmed that it is her boss: A friend had severe allergies to perfumes/colognes and even some deoderants. Her workplace was unbearable and she extended her maternity leave to get away from it because she finally felt alright. Eventually she went back and dealt with the offenders - said the key was to stress how sensitive she was as opposed to how pungent they were. Everyone's boss is different, but my experience is if you can make it like they're helping solve your problem instead of highlighting how they are the problem, most decent people will understand. Another possible solution that I've used in the case of certain bad habits: You could have her go to her boss and ask them how to deal with a different employee (not the boss) who's perfume sets off the allergies. The boss can talk to this person (you can even arrange ahead of time with the person so that they know you're not really bothered by them) and may come to the realization that their perfume may set her off too and tone it down. Even if they don't, if she has to mention it to the boss at a later date the boss will be less offended because she was even set off by this other person previously who's cologne was not offensive. Nobody gets hurt, everybody wins.

$20 off $20 printable coupon to Jos A Bank. It's an expensive store so that won't get you much, but free is hard to argue with. (It could of course be used on larger purchases as well.)

Luckily, when you're alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go...

Here's a handy knife that's good in a pinch. It's actually halfway decent and I've made it through airport security with it (accidentally) on my person. $3.89 + FSHIP

Interesting. The limited lifetime warranty specifically excludes anyone who is not the initial user from the warranty, but I guess in practice they don't care.

The ESP950's were available on Amazon recently for $550-600 new for a while, but they seemed to have jumped back up very recently. At the current new price it's an OK price used if it's in the condition he claims it is.

Thank you for restoring some sanity (at least temporarily) to a crazy, crazy thread. It was gaining some traction - everyone who tried and dissented had "inferior/unsynergistic rigs" and the couple who confirmed were held up with the tenacity of an olympic torch-holder as iron-clad proof. Two more months and they would have had an appreciation thread.

Good stuff. If you hadn't used the HEARTMP3 code yet it comes out to a buck. I still mainly purchase used-like new CD's on Amazon or "lots" on Ebay (or occasionally Craigslist) which tend to also be good deals but that's all a crapshoot - items can be in worse condition than described, or in one "100 Jazz CD's" lot case, a couple Miles Davis Cd's on top with about 85 copies of Kenny G's Miracles: The Holiday Albums underneath. With digital at least you get exactly what you wanted.

Big Mahler Box (92 tracks) 99 cents on Amazon (digital download) I used the coupon code HEARTMP3 ($2 off MP3 purchase) and my grand total was $0.00

A lot of these DAC's have trouble working wirelessly. I have my Cantata set up like this: Which is how they suggest using it, (took the picture from their site,) but I do experience dropouts and occasional distortion. So in theory, shouldn't matter but either due to your network's bandwidth or the firmware of the DAC it might not always work like it should. This is especially true with hi-rez (which the Cantata can handle up to 24/96 over ethernet/wireless. - don't know about how other DAC's handle hirez over ethernet.)

Ryan Adams Live After Deaf Boxset (174 Songs) 8.99 Amazon MP3 This is $120 on iTunes and about $9 an album separate on Amazon MP3, so it may be a temporary pricing error that won't last long.

Ordered that online Louis CK special for $5 earlier this year. Got an email - he's doing a new tour with all tickets sold online through his site. $45 anywhere. 2nd row front and center at the Riverside for $45. Not bad.
