  1. Well, there was the 30 cable group buy he took $6,000 from... 2 years ago. Then there were the twenty or so members who posted in the complaint thread on the other site about not receiving their cables after almost comically long wait periods. Alex posted once a year ago and hasn't surfaced since. He has claimed flood damage and "personal issues" as the reasons for the delays. In the meantime he is quite active on a number of other forums, including Lotus Talk where he discusses such things as the best battery for the Lotus he purchased with what at this point amounts to stolen money.
  2. Some of the hobbyists out there would definitely do it for free. Same person I suggested to you for the Paradox also has every Grado ever and quite a few amps to compare the DSHA to.
  3. Variable bass output.
  4. The Sanders system comes with the crossover as well as one amp (magtech for model 10c, ESL for 11) to control the woofers- since it's bi-amped, you'd need to buy another one for the rest of the system. He gives discounts if you buy his own amps and of course suggests his own models. From my conversations with him he's an "any front end goes" kind of guy.
  5. Just ordered a set of micro one's from Blue Light. Heads up to prospective buyers, It's gone up in price to $4000 but they will be honoring the $2500 price to anyone who squeezes into the current run (which is shipping in November.)
  6. Sure. Whole lot of BS and more expensive is better (especially in the DAC section) but there are also a lot of experienced people on the boards and they bring industry insiders as well to talk about the tech behind products and technologies - they also have an "expert forum" thats very cool. They also have the biggest pictorial and some of the most extensive show coverage I've seen, this RMAF included.
  7. Ya, over at WBF they're loving it. Steve's endorsements (and Roger's posts) have me demoing a new Sanders sound system soon...

  12. Way to sidestep any question of real import and turn the answers you do give into a chance to market all your new products and be coy about upcoming ones.

Thanks. My $1 credit worked, so 29 cents total for 305 tracks.
  17. Todd has an arete+volcano demo unit for sale for a few hundred off retail. The volcano-less Arete is also on sale.
  18. Just picked up the Amperiors from the local Apple store a couple days ago. They're nice, have a much better build than the HD-25's but are heavier too and less of a "beater" headphone than the HD-25's. The sound is pretty dominated by the midbass, with vocals a bit recessed, but overall pleasant nonetheless. My only real gripe with these headphones is the cable. They have a thick cable that terminates in a 3.5mm after about 6 inches, then you plug in one of two cable options on top of that which are very thin and don't look like they'll hold up well. The issue is that the top cable is heavier and less flexible and the cable is quite annoying to wear on top of your shirt. If you tuck it under a shirt or jacket though, where the top cable is held in, it's quite great. Having to wear it tucked in though is in itself an issue- some who buy these for gym or workout use will end up destroying the cable with their sweat. Just a really odd design choice -

  20. Marv (Purrin) has some measurements: FR: Compared to the D7000: He's also taken distortion and CSD measurements.
  21. Moon Audio has them on their 10% sale periodically - you can save a couple hundred there. I was pleasantly surprised (only other dynamic Fostex I've heard is the Denon line which they are the OEM for) but perhaps they could make this with a less exotic lacquer and knock off like $800.
  22. I've been way too productive the last couple days. Here's to more Slower Forum awesomeness.
  23. RE black books: The episode where Manny remains one of my favorite tv episodes to this date.
