  1. http://www.msbtechnology.com/amplifiers/headphone-amp-features/ Anybody want to guess what actually makes this thing tick? Look at all the bodges in a 37k$ amp...
  2. There is no telling if something else is damaged so just enjoy that it works for now.
  3. I use routing like this quite a bit and with no issues.
  4. Might be a bad pot but it is probably something more serious. Still it wouldn't hurt to replace the pot as they don't age well
  5. Yup, something like that. It adds a bit to the manufacturing cost but well worth it.
  6. I can't see anything.
  7. You route out slots through the board to prevent shorts. Much harder to bridge unintentionally if there is a slot in the middle. This is often used on power boards for extra insulation.
  8. For a future board it might be a good idea to create some slots between the pads.
  9. Yeah I need to make this official and the take all the sorb idiots to court here in Iceland.
  10. Maybe something crazy like the Sound Lab MiniStat...
  11. SORB-THAT-SHIT! (TM)
  12. Nahh but these keyboards always go like this after a while. Still love them though and it is the only keyboard I want to use.
  13. I just made my own. Photographed the logo in an old manual and then cleaned it up. Some progress and now it is ready for testing. Still missing the normal bias supply but that is trivial at best: It is a very, very tight fit and would be an absolute dog to take apart again...
  14. Ahh yes, the age old "I don't have any leg to stand on, no actual knowledge of the matter but I'm delusional enough to think I'm right so the beautiful, beautiful music will tell all" argument. Classic...
  15. The phono stage is of no use to me so it was scrapped and it will be used line level only. Pretty much had to do it so I could fit the new transformer and PSU board. I'll run the front at at 300V and the output at 600V as it is simply easier with the regulated PSU. I replaced everything so the new output filter network will be fun to test out as I converted to balanced. Those are KOA SPR2 resistors.
  16. For a 100$ they are fine to transplant some other drivers into the shells but even then it doesn't work due to the shitty headband design.
  17. The Hifiman Massdrop headphone is seriously shitty. Sounds like an utter turd...
  18. I did post some updates somewhere but I might as well copy them here: Not much has happened since I posted that but I'll work on the PSU at some point and then I can do final assembly. The schematic is here:
  19. You could have arc'ed them as the diaphragm slammed into the stator. We just don't have enough data on the new diaphragm material to know how it behaves but the resistive coating should have been able to protect it and just dissipate the small amount of charge at the contact point.
  20. Don't go dragging actual physics into this.
  21. I just checked and the 207 uses the same cradle for the driver as the rest of that lineup.
  22. My nestegg is my stash of 2SK216's and 2SJ79's...
  23. It's highly unlikely
  24. Well there is no more P+G as they stopped accepting orders in August. Still digital is better but I for one just prefer the feel of a quality pot.
  25. You can't go stirring up shit on HF by asking logical questions like that. That behavior simply won't do!! Now remove those headbands and step in line!!!
