It might be a bit anti climatic as I won't be doing a whole lot to it. Bend the arcs to suit my head and perhaps replace the foam inside the pads to the foam Kerry made.

Gotta love the magic smoke... -
The 007's really need a kick up the backside to perform. I just got some 007BL's yesterday and they appear to be completely stock so it will be fun to modify them. Stock they sound just a bit dull to be honest. The bass has the slight overhang to it and the soundstage is a bit too big. Treble needs a slight kick up the pants but it can all be fixed with the arcs. Feels a bit like 2002 to me... when I was messing with the Mk1's for the first time.

Nahhh...I'm a pretty bad baker but he's pretty clearly very bothered how little I think of him. Must be fun to have such thin skin... Yeah it will be interesting to see what they come up with but I'm not very hopeful as the recent stuff has all been pretty poor. They are back on the brightness train and a lot of people don't like it.
-
There was some talk about a 007Mk3 (aka we are screwed with the naming) but who knows what they are working on.
-
Hehe I like to piss people off. Means I'm doing something right...

Yeah the transdyn is an utter BS product but perfect for the true believers. Get something that you have no idea about but is more expensive and thus...better. The amps are just chip amps driving transformers so yeah...pretty bloody bad. I haven't checked on HF in a while...anything interesting?
-
I mean the old Jecklin was just a bent piece of plastic attached to some Jantzen clone drivers but the new one looks to be utter shit. Just look at those "amps" and the "transdyn" or what ever that shit is called. Hell even the old SRPP amp Ergo did is better than that shit and it holds the grand title of one of the worst amps ever designed.
-
Do let us know if they will sell you the bloody cable as...well...they are very stingy with 009 parts.
-
Ahhh the Jecklin QA... we really need to take one of those apart. Some fucktard on HF is talking them up now but nobody is listening...
-
That's pure win right there.

Yeah...can't believe that was almost 10 years ago but I truly don't see how Fang could have moved from that steaming pile of shit to a 50K$ and for it not to be a steaming pile of shit as well...just much more expensive. I do feel kinda bad now that I turned down a slightly broken Jade for the price of shipping as it would be nice to have one in the museum, the sheer level of shit just has to be preserved I mean there are plenty of headphones I don't like but for most it is a voicing issue or they fall flat in some crucial area. With the Jade it was just so shockingly bad all around. I mean I can't stand the Stax SR-507 but they do a lot of things right...the Jade just fails... Fucked treble and bass, fucked midrange and fucked soundstage with the worst build quality ever. The King Sound units are close behind but at least they are pretty cheap, at least the KS-H1.
-
But..but..it's so much to fun to watch a train wreck like this. Fang is like a small spoiled child that goes completely over the top if things don't go exactly as he wants. I think we need to buy some of his products just to rip them apart and piss him off.
-
Any KGSSHV will do just fine.

Indeed, this whole "we only care about the performance...honest" BS...nobody buys that. Fang is a bit like the car company's here, talking about all the issues with the previous model just because they have a new one out. "Sure...this was perfect last week but now it is shit!!" Edit: Just browsed through the thread... and fuck Fang is nuts!! People don't lavish his newest piece of shit with praise so he is to be executed? Ehhh ok... what!!??!!??

I was reading some of their PR bullshit and the cable section was interesting. First of all...it has a loop going through it so if the cable is unplugged then the amp will shut off. Seems to be 4 wires going to each cup and they do mention that: Interesting... Well not but why put ground anywhere in an electrostatic system.
-
They could coat the spacer with something conducive but yeah, I doubt that is the case. Pure single ended shit with all sort of weirdness. Pure win!! Now...now... don't drag things like science into this!! It should be clear to anyone that the stators stand in the way of the sound molecules and there is no way the bass ones can get through those small holes!! Just like Ray said about the wires, they have to be thick enough for the bass to get through. In all seriousness, the stators aren't a problem in any way that I can see and getting rid of them, or making some flimsy as shit mesh stator will make everything worse. Can you even imagine how hard it is to make the Shangri-La stators actually run parallel to one another? Pretty much impossible I'd say let alone what happens when you start playing something. Hello high distortion electrostatic!!
-
The BH PSU is two PSU's tied together at the output to create a bipolar supply so this wouldn't be a problem.
-
We never did one of those that I can remember. It would be easy enough to cut the back off the PCB but the connectors would have to be moved.
-
You can do single ended if you simply ground the other "stator" which makes them pseudo push pull. The Koss ESP6, 7, 8 and 9 do it this way and so do the odd Philips electrets from the 70's. Now how this is done is very important as to how well it works but it is never the equivalent of simply using a pure push-pull setup. I agree that this is basically what Beveridge did back in the day and relies heavily on bias with all the issues that entails. I'm highly skeptical of all of this but hey, let's take one apart and see how it works.
-
Indeed, cables made by people who have no idea what they are doing adding a level of danger to the listening session. Pure win!! I'd love to hear these but I'm very skeptical that they are any better than traditional electrostatics. Also that amp is probably utter shit...and wasn't the dac just a bog standard ESS Sabre?
-
They are a bit smaller but I need to series connect to bring down number of values used so space saving is pretty much zero. My goal is to have them assembled for me a thus cut the cost of the amps.
