  1. I'm all for that if it isn't a cash grab like the X9000. Looks like the SR-Omega... misses all of the design nuances and gets them all wrong
  2. Exactly, flip the housing around and remove the stupid dust screen on the L300 and they are not bad at all. Not 207 good but why we have to fix their shit is annoying.
  3. The name isn't fixed as of yet but they claim it will be neutral sounding... we'll see about that. It is set to replace the L300 but given it has leather earpads and a whole new structure... I doubt they will be cheap.
  4. Stax are being sneaky...
  5. In Japan the Spirit came in two versions, one with the wool and one without so I assume they just follow along with that. Plus the German importer had a lot of one-off things just sold there. ED-5, all the SR-5 stuff etc.
  6. It's the Lambda Spirit, just a different name for different markets. I should have put my pile of broken drivers up on ebay for 2k€ instead of just throwing them in the trash where they belong...
  7. Yup, I believe it was all filmed here

Those were contractors, saving the large earth moving machines you can see in the background. Those were being used to make walls around the town to try and steer the lava away from it so they might come in handy later. The latest news claim the smaller fissure inside the town has pretty much closed at this point and most of the lava is running to the west so above the houses.

...so here we are again and this time it is much, much worse. It started just before 8am here and this was taken just as day was breaking, around 10:15am. This is right next to the town and a second fissure has opened up inside the town so yeah... this is not good. Now the town was evacuated quickly but the first houses have already been consumed by the lava and it can go only one way, through the town and into the sea. There was a serious accident this week in the town where a man was buried alive when he was trying to stabilize some of the fractures in the earth. They searched for two days but couldn't find him so it was decided to abandon the town yesterday.
  11. Most SR-5N's were sold with SRD-6's so I'm sure this was the intended setup. There is no way to do the EQ properly at speaker level so this makes the most sense.
  12. With the ED-5 there was no amp pairing as it uses the same chassis as the SRD-6 I think... it's been a while.
  13. I'm sure they sold a lot more of 007A's so none of this makes any sense.
  14. Yeah, what I've heard from dealers all around the world, the X9000 sells and the 007's sell... the rest not so much. This was not a good idea unless they plan on releasing a Mk3.
  15. That certainly includes the Mk2 so we are all basically fucked.

...and just like that it is over. Gotta love how bloody random all of this is.

That's been done before. After the eruption in Vestmannaeyjar, which wiped out roughly a third of the town, people baked rye bread in the lava. It cooks at a relatively low temp (say 140°C) but for a long time so just dig a hole and leave it there for a day or two.

It's slowing down but it could also open up elsewhere... no way to know

This picture says quite a bit... That's how close it is to the town.

This seem to be slowing down but we really won't know as the weather is quite shit today.

Well it happened. Yesterday, the only talk on the news was that the people of Grindavík would be able to celebrate Christmas in their own homes and the police were being criticized for almost arresting one person who wanted to sleep in the town and reopen his hotel. With almost no warning, a rather large fissure opened up some 3km north east of the town and the lava flow is running to the west, away from the town but directly towards the main road and the Blue Lagoon. There has been erected a protective barrier all around the Blue Lagoon (mostly though around the geothermal power plant it's right next to) and they are now plugging the gap where the road pass through the barrier. The bad news is this is a rather larger eruption than the last fews and the lava flow is heading towards the hot water pipe leading from the power plant. That carries all the hot water used for heating the homes south west of Reykjavík, for some 40000 people. If that is consumed by the lava... there is no plan B except to use electricity to heat the homes or at least, keep them from freezing up. Yeah, this is bad...
  22. Unplug the headphone when they noise is present and don't touch the pins... is the noise still there? It does sound a lot like the drivers are damaged in the headphones.
  23. The ED-1 is quite rare and even more so the ED-1 Signature. There was also the ED-5 but I've never had one of those, they seem to just have been sold in Germany as the SR-5N and NB were so popular there.
  24. Nothing new I've seen, they have all use Stax circuit boards. His ED-1 clone does use his own PCB's but the circuit is clearly a clone.
  25. It's made by Pawel Acoustics: http://www.pawel-acoustics.ch/ Inside those were real Stax amps, those I've seen were just rehoused SRM-313's. He makes a copy of the Stax ED-1 to this day.
