If you follow the Mikhail line of thought then the 250Vac rating would mean 250*1.41 for DC but that isn't the case. Most of these switches have a rating for DC and it is usually very low. I for one wouldn't worry about delay lines and stuff like that.

More current certainly doesn't make an amp brighter, anybody who would write that knows fuck all about this. With everything equal more current will give you better high frequency drive capability into the given load. That means a more stable voltage swing as you push the amp harder. One of the main issues with Stax is just this, the diaphragm starts to act up as it is capable of pretty amazing frequency response but the amps just can't handle it at full load. Stax "fix" this by dulling sound of the amps to make them a better fit but it sounds like shit that way.

So I got those ESP950 leather pads and I kinda like them. Now the opening is much smaller than even the ebay pads and they are taller too. The sound...well it does clear up some of the ESP950's issues to some extent such as the boomy bass and vague sound stage. I need some further listening but yeah...not bad at all. I also had them make some SR-Omega pads and these won't work. Too thick, not big enough and the opening is too small...

I think the plastic may become conductive or do some other funky shit with age which might be a factor here. Coating just one side should work just fine but check the bias point for corrosion.

Well this is Stax so revision central but AFAIK the drivers have always been a larger outer shell and then the insert which holds the other stator. The diaphragm is in the middle suspended on two metal rings.

With the pins removed the driver just pulls apart. Some are pretty stuck and watch out for the wire going to the front stator. It's an utter pain to fix if broken...

Yup, the WES is for people who have no idea what quality sounds like and think "large chassis, toobz and high price" is a substitute for good engineering.
