It's fine to argue about technical merit but bashing based on no knowledge at all is going too far. I love how he defends the horrible Rudistor crap without knowing what the hell he's talking about and he always has to but in despite being a MOT.
-
Did you hear a stock unit? Many of the 300SEI's have been modified because you can rework some of the bad things Cary did.
-
He's always been like this. He attacked me time and time again because of my take on the HE90 all because he heard it once at a NY meet and it was the best ever. Complete idiot with an agenda.
-
Sovkiller is such an idiot so I can't wait for his replies... I did quite enjoy the argument where he said I couldn't have the Egmont schematic and Rudistor amp weren't badly built paperweights...

The Ven Haus cable (Jupiter) is very good but the best you can get is Audio Consulting unless you are willing to have something specially made or you can find some of the age annealed Kondo wire. Thinner is better with silver wire and stay away from Teflon like the plague unless it is several numbers larger then the wire.

You do have a point here but it isn't as cut and dry as people like. All those reviews I've read over the years stating that some component doesn't have any sound and is completely neutral are so full of crap because all gear will have some sound of its own. This is why I rank the He90 as euphonic and the SR-007 as neutral because the He90 leaves a huge mark on the music but the SR-007 doesn't. It's not completely neutral but they sure as hell are accurate. I'm well aware that most audiophools still cling on to the old standards where accurate meant dry, bright and lifeless sound and euphonic was a warm, syrupy mess. These terms are good as they are easy to understand but very far from the truth and very outdated. You can a very musical sound that isn't euphonic and dry, Monitors are very colored devices as they are all a bit dry but they are supposed to be like that. A lot of people use the BBC monitors and PMC speakers in their homes and love them to bits as they don't conform to the stereotypical monitor sound.

I can see now why you would prefer the Lambdas with their bloated bass. Nothing wrong with that but we are clearly polar opposites here. Don't bring up that idiot. He could be the poster boy for why everybody hates the Swedes.
-
You should know by now that there is only one truth... It's not some overblown and muddy, one note mess as most dynamics so I'd rather say understated in term of bloom but with depth, texture and detail that's hard to match.
-
Most people with a clue about how all of this stuff works move closer to the truth but there are always exceptions. Some members of HF spring to mind that think the sound is produced by pixie dust.
-
Thanks for that... now I have to buy a L3k...
-
What aspect of the bass are you talking about here as the L3000 is one of the few phones I want to hear. It is the depth, presence, texture or detail? Btw. The 4070 is something unique as it has very little bloom but amazing depth and detail.

The good news is that the new production 845's aren't that bad and much, much cheaper. Couldn't have said it better myself. They are simply creating the ultimate euphonic tube sound and we say it sounds bad because that's not how a good tubeamp sounds.

It is... now back to some Stax talk... The Lambda pads are still easy compared to either of the Omegas. The O1 has these nasty little plastic snaps with a pin in the middle and the pads are so badly made it pretty hard to put them on the right way. The SR-007 has this clever rotating system which needs to me mounted inside the pads and then the pads can be forced over the metal back plate. Be prepared for some cuts and scrapes..

For dropping the tough work in somebody else's lap... Like your daddy did.... ...
-
Just because everybody is doing it doesn't make it right... The true musical truth lies in single driver transducers and simple tube amps. I wished any dynamic could produce the bass of the SR-007 or the 4070. How the 4070 presents bass is really, truly unique...
-
A quad of NOS 845's costs between 3-6k$ depending on which tubes we are talking about. Good 45's are about a grand and the 300b's would be at least 2k$. That's not really cheap is it?

The trick with the old pads is to try and get all of the glue off with the pads which is easy with the oldest pads but gets harder with the newer versions of glue. I ripped off the pads on my new-ish Airbow SC1 and no amount of solvents could completely clean the baffle. Using chemicals this close to the driver is pretty bad for my ulcer... :'(

That could very well be but none of my headphones are. Planars all the way...

Vacuum box to store headphones, photo gear, electronics etc.

This would be most useful with either one of the Sennheiser HE's as they don't like dust at all. Stax stats are better protected but humidity can kill any one of them. -
It's certainly a very confused headphone...
-
I'd ask EIFL about them as he orders straight from the factory
-
I'm just trying to mix with the common folk... it won't happen again...

K340... The confused headphone...

You are lucky to pass this off on somebody else. The older pads ar better then the new ones though. Damn environmentally friendly glue... I think the collectoritis has gone into overdrive when you got 8 sets of Lambda pads in July and you've run out...
