You can read what it says on the part with a magnifier of some sort. The SOT223 parts usually have some of the real marking on them unlike smaller stuff.

We have so much spare electricity here that it isn't funny. Just the spare electricity from the largest plant (Karahnjukar) is enough to run all of the cars in Iceland if they were electric. This only because there has been a lot of snow the last few years so if that were to change...well.. not good. As for the DHT's, I just don't get it. People are stuck in late 30's tech when tubes did get a bunch better later on. The pencil tubes are excellent though they don't like high voltage all that much... I haven't tried the 300limited yet but out of the other ones, I like the L500 a lot and more than the 700's. They are not a bad place to start and so is the L300 frankly. I use them for testing and they are just excellent.

That is weird, are you sure those are 50K? Can't see from the pic neither what transistors those are.

Given their past behavior...he could also just have been lying...

We clearly need to come up with some crazy expensive amps to compensate for all of this. The insane Carbon is already planned and so is my version of the T2 but I'm going to be the very last with that one... This has transformer coupled written all over it for me. Even if they were to drive the 6SN7 and 300B's within an inch of their lives... simply no way to get the gain needed. Also Woo have never done anything even remotely novel, it's all cookie cutter crap done to the lowest possible standard. Case in point, feeding the output through to the PSU for some reason... Edit: Kevin reading my mind yet again. I'd say go the full hog, input transformer with stepup and splitting the phase into the 6SN7. Again stepping it up with transformers into the 300B's and then transformers yet again on the outputs. Might just get enough volume out of it that way...

Funny enough I just watched a short documentary on Ivan and hour ago...

I have one of those and the iron is terrible...

When I get one I'll be doing a full comparison.

About 750$ so they will go quickly

I sold mine as I need to cut down on all these headphones... I did just buy two L300limited though for some unknown reason...
-
Still no strain relief on the cables which is not great...
-
Just saw it. No info yet what happened...

There are a few parts to this, partially it is charge leakage, partially it is mechanical and finally...it has to be a coating issue as well.
-
That's a good point. Knowing Stax they might have changed something but I haven't heard anything... The imbalance issue is certainly still there though.

Done.

The post here can be pretty reasonable but for some they are an utter pain. Anything with tracking is 20$ plus... even if i send a single resistor...

43$... gotta love shipping lumps of steel.

No such luck, it's about 4pm so yeah... all hail the darkness!!!

I have plenty of 420VAC transformers (for the 450V KGSSHV) with dual primaries but shipping to you would be killer...

Yup...it's enough of a theory that half the nation is eating anti-depressants this time of year. Sun rising at 11am isn't much fun...

The top plate is fine but the bottom panel is raised a bit to fit the transformer inside. Nobody could make the necessary transformer smaller than 40mm in height so this one had to be squeezed in at 42mm so the bottom is raised up a bit. It was annoying but yeah, nothing I could so short of mounting the transformer on the outside which could cost far more in the end. This amp will drive any Stax sets out there but it was never designed for the 007's in mind. Think of it as an upgraded 353X but in a much crazier chassis. On a side note, the natural light up here just sucks for taking photo's... I was actually just trying to install more lights in that room to make it easier.

Let's not dwell on the specifics of how something actually works.

Mostly to do with the earpads and the angle of the drivers/clamping force. The earpads for these always proved tricky, I tried a pile of them and none never sounded right. Most helped quite a bit but it wasn't until I tried the custom earpads for my own DIY sets that they clicked into play. The opening is quite small and they are a bit taller than most so it's a combo that works.
-
My set is fairly recent and yeah, get a SR-207 or a L300. They aren't competition with the Stax unless you mod them.
-
Is there anything new from them? I have the H03 here which is supposed to be TOTL and well... same shit, different name. I've heard them all and they all suck. Some of it is down to the poor driver design but those earpads... fuck...
