  1. Don't have a scanner... I need to buy one though as I have quite a bit of old reviews collected.
  2. There are about 12-15mm of clearance but I did form the arc so that it rises a bit higher then it should i.e. I moved most of the bend which should be closest to the ears over to the whole arc.
  3. They were just fine, the earpads aren't particularly comfy but that's not my fault. I also can hardly use the HE90 due to limited range on the arc and I wear all of the Stax phones at maximum extension (not the SR-Omega but they have an extra 12mm at each side). No beard and or a horned helmet... I do scare small children so that they run away or they look at me utterly bewildered.
  4. (hides in shame as Jecklin Floats won't even fit my huge head...)
  5. In some Stax news, I just got one of the few reviews I know of the SR-Omega/SRM-T2 combo but sadly it is in German. Needless to say it is in "Absolute Spitzenklasse 1" Stax. Here is the service list on the Japanese version of the Stax site and the SR-5 pads are still listed as being in stock.
  6. Brilliant as I was just looking for that info. Time to gut the old KGSS chassis and put a BH in there...
  7. Is there another Hubble type of incident looming...?
  8. What about adding a fixed attenuation to the cable going from the Gamma to the Mini? It's just a couple of resistors for each channel, tied to ground.
  9. I do want those but it's a few grand just to get them up and running again. The TOTL Stax speaker was the 8X-BB... which stands for battery bias.
  10. I have way too many project to add on a Dynafet but I could do with some k389 replacements...
  11. Your doing something wrong... Can you post some pics?
  12. That's exactly what I think he's referring to.
  13. ...and your point is??
  14. Congrats on being one year closer to death...
  15. That is the 6BX7 Stax amp that was very popular in Japan in the mid 90's. That particular amp was built by the guy which owns the SR-Omega fan site in Japan. The T2 has no links to the 007t as that is just a variation of the T1 design. The BH was Kevin's take on the T2 type of amp.
  16. Old Maggies tend to delaminate which is supposed to be a real pain to fix but other than that... go for it!!
  17. Can you show me how you wired it? It's been well over a year but I'm certain that the stock Koss cable can't be rewired for Stax duty without cutting off the plug. I would remove the foam and replace it with anything you have handy. The major damping is done by the felt pads at the back of the driver. You could also swap the foam for wool and line the crappy enclosure with bitumen. Brilliant news to say the least!!!
  18. That's sounds like a great plan, Dan... ... and kudos to Justin as usual.
  19. The diaphragm should charge up instantly or there is something wrong. Amp warm up is another matter though.
  20. That could definitely work but I'd still use WBT sockets.
  21. I think Dan could live with being a bit uncomfortable with a DynaFet in those boxes...
  22. This is also probably the reason why so many ES-1's had the output sockets wired the wrong way around.
  23. Has anybody tried the PCB variation of these sockets? Might be easier to work with...
  24. I'm in for some Dynafet....
  25. You most likely need to take the bottom off as tube amps are built upside down with everything mounted to the top plate.
