  1. I saw the pics in your FS listing and you may not have taken the spring mod far enough. It could just be the pics () but the spring should make a clear impression in the pleather all around as it forces the pads into place. I even extended the spring with some heatshrink and some more wire to maintain the "hold" all round. As for the Jade, I couldn't get rid of them fast enough. I even had a hard time forcing myself to listen to them. Now there are plenty of phones that have major flaws yet are still great fun to listen too. Hell I even like the vintage RS-1's for what they offer but the Jade is just a truly dreadful headphone.
  2. One solution would be to look at the items sold to cover the debts of bankrupt companies. It's the sad plus side of the current economy, plenty of stuff for sale and little demand.
  3. The only cheap way to get a CNC would be to DIY it.
  4. I forgot he made those DIY drivers and that he's got a CNC machine.
  5. Ditto! I don't get the "reinforced with aluminum" bit but he could have had some pieces made that would fit inside the SR-Omega shell. With the SR-007 drivers in place there is a lot of empty space inside the shell and the aluminum is very thin. Now if he hasn't plugged the port that Stax left open (more like an open door) then there is no wonder the hybrid sucks. The bass bloat on the SR-007A/Mk2 is nothing compared to what Stax does to the "repaired" Omega. It's also interesting to see him talk about the L-R balance being off and getting worse. I've also had 3 SR-Omegas here (not counting the hybrid) and they all sounded the same once I had gone through them. "There can be only one!!!"
  6. Damn him!! I did manage to buy an original wooden box for my SR-Omega/007 hybrid but I want some cardboard boxes as well It's the 6BX7 SRPP amp. You can see it here.
  7. Somebody needs to translate this.
  8. Have a great one!!
  9. It's more like a high pitched hissing noise...
  10. That 30W amp can dish out some serious power even if it has left Class A to pull it off. The perfect ESL57 amp? I know they are X350.5's but I want some Class A in my life.
  11. Mmmmm XA200.5's..... Did any of you catch the XA30.5 review in the latest Stereophile? The written review was crap as was to be expected but the measurements were tasty. Does anybody remeber what amps were/are used to drive the wall of 'stats at SME? It's probably in the Quad book but it's been a long day...
  12. I have some 8 sets left so just drop me a line when you need them. All funds will go towards me buying and ripping apart a SR-007Mk2...
  13. You'll love them moar with the Pro drivers. Btw. If you need new earpads then drop me a PM. I have way too many of them and am cheaper then AC...
  14. Those are Sound-Lab U-1's and UB-1's in the center. UB-1's are dedicated bass panels which reach down to 20Hz at full or nearly full output. You can always place ESL's side by side as the radiation pattern is a figure 8 with no output to the sides.
  15. There are supposedly some other tips that fit the SR-001/003 but I've never tried them and no, there isn't an extension cable for the SR-001.
  16. Stop reading my mind!!!!! Now if there were a limited edition Stax headphone...
  17. Want... badly. This could also work though
  18. The SR-Lambda is the normal bias original model. I would recommended something vintage, made when overkill was the name of the game with quality connectors, over sized transformers and not every penny pinched. If that isn't an option then a 400w unit would work just fine. There is also the option to just change the voltage on the 007tA. It might require some soldering and perhaps adding a wire or two to the primary of the transformer but it's easy enough to do.
  19. I tried every type of ribbon cable I could get my hands on but most were crap and the liver litz was good but unwieldy. It's just so much easier to cut up a Wide PC-OCC extension cable...
  20. Two Pro jacks FTW!!! As for the TakeT, just use one of those handy adapter cables or rewire the headphones with some Wide PC-OCC.
  21. Adding a normal bias socket is simply a matter of changing the voltage divider so that's surely an option. There are also a few BHSE's that don't have a He90 jack such as mine. Better yet, get something that doesn't suck...
  22. This is the standard one socket, two plugs affair. It simply separates the bias and drive voltages so that you can use any amp to drive any headphone given that you have some way to access the original bias supply. Let's say you want to drive a normal bias Sigma from a 717 and have a SRD-6 handy or that you want to use the ESP950 off a Stax amp, yet use the Koss bias supply. The one for CanJam is so that the owner of a normal bias Sigma can experience it off the BHSE.
  23. How about a gain switch for normal gain and then a gain of 1000 for those that want to use the SR-001?
  24. I just finished these, a couple of Stax bias leach cables. I'm fairly confident that one of them will be at CJ...
  25. Perhaps the A-10 should rather be compared against the A11... ...that's the name of the mini ES-1....
