  1. They could have. Crack open the WEE and take some pictures of the bias supply so we can know for sure.
  2. Yeah...should have read it there for free.
  3. I need to get my own set at some point but impressions from those not affected by the hype are far from positive... Speaking of the hype, I was at a bookstore yesterday and saw the "The Absolute Sound Hifi+: Ultimate Headphone Guide" and picked it up. What a steaming pile of lies, misinformation and BS posing as reviews. The Trilogy SPD H1 "review" is really something else with claims of "all point to point wiring is done with silver plated teflon wire"...sure but that reads like the amp is wired point to point when it's all on PCB's. Also claims about the design are just precious... I haven't gone over the Shangri-la Jr., Voce, Sonoma and other reviews so I expect more of the same.
  4. LSK489 and LSJ689. If those are too expensive then you are just shit out of luck
  5. That's the weird part of PCB design, most of it is in mills or inches. I do alignment in mm's as the whole fraction thing is just utter BS but for heatsink attachment... half inches are the golden rule.
  6. Add some small sinks to them and the TO126's will be perfect.
  7. UV and plastics are not friends so no sunlight would be the best option.
  8. Yup, I've gone through and netlisted many of our old projects plus assigned values to the parts instead of just silk text.
  9. Hehe so true.
  10. Netlisting is even better if we were ever to bother with schematics...which we never do.
  11. Hmmmm they do ship to Iceland for some reason. Perhaps I should get one for the living room and display the collection of amps. It's not that the GF isn't bothered enough by the large display case there with all the headphones...
  12. ...so where do I plug the phones into this? Nice design though. Is somebody looking at furniture?
  13. I like it, you are going in the other direction from the original T2, small amp chassis and a huge PSU.
  14. Netlisting one of these is an epic pain.
  15. Ahh the assembled parts which I got the pleasure of trying to salvage. Most of it was garbage so not the best deal in the world...
  16. Some slight short to ground just adds to flavor of the amp...
  17. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/ifi-audio-pro-iesl-the-official-thread.852364/page-7#post-14413330 Ahhh nice of ifi to question my knowledge of electronics. I always feel nice when somebody does that while not addressing any of my major concerns. I guess I have to buy one of these and rip it apart. In other news, I don't like the direction Stax is taking with the made-in-china amps. They have stopped using Japanese caps and instead are using these gems in the D-50: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=58678 Might just be my new favorite forum... So we will go from Stax amps needing nothing for 20-30 years to perhaps a 5 year life before the caps give out? That's not really a move forward in my book...
  18. ...and phono preamp.
  19. Yup, they even have black 007A's now.
  20. Can't go wrong with Poang. I had one for 20 years and now it is at my inlaws... I see the rug is also Ikea.
  21. Ok, few issues. Never, ever, never use mica insulators at these voltage levels. Only use the ceramic insulators and better yet, PEEK screws. Also the board shouldn't be attached like that. The whole idea was to move the output wires to the bottom of the board and attach the CCS on the PCB. The power dissipation of the heatsinks is very compromised when angled like that
  22. The first ever amp was the silver one Kevin has and it looks just like the other ones.
  23. I've fixed two sets of 009' this way and no issues again. On top of this the dozens and dozens of other units where the owners have reached out to me for help. It has also worked on 007's for other people so worth a shot.
  24. I wouldn't touch the wires to be honest. It is most likely the new film acting up so the same cure as with the 009's... hit them with a bit of force and see if the imbalance goes away.
