digital or analog cable more important?
The Trends UD10.1 has a BNC output and so do other USB based transports.

Baby O
It would require an adapter but it would work.

The Headcase Stax thread
The Lambda Pro Classic/Spirit was its replacement and that was released in 1992 so somewhere around that time.

You are doing well my young friend but you need more overkill and frankenphones. Before I went nuts I had a SR-007/Blue Hawaii but even that wasn't enough to stop the evil thoughts from appearing, "I wonder how those crazy Sigma's would sound..." etc.

75ohm coax cable and 75ohm BNC's are you are set.

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
True but I really believe Mikhail would be up for the job.

SoFla Winter Meet 12/5/09
I wouldn't expect wallwarts but a whole other league of crap is certainly a possibility based on what we've seen from other Extremes.

SoFla Winter Meet 12/5/09
If you can open it up and take pics then we should be able to see what needs to be done. The screws are probably very well fixed in place (he put some adhesive on them so that nobody could open them up) so I'd buy a few 1/16" hex keys since you bound to destroy at least one. Some pliers also help.

Split Volume Knob Source?
It wouldn't hurt to match the 389's but I really wouldn't bother. It should be easy enough to bend the leads on the LSK to the right pattern.
-
Split Volume Knob Source?
If I had the heatsinks and could therefore link the singles into a double unit, then I'd use them but I do have a small stash of 389's so I continue to use them instead. The LSK389 is supposed to be better so I might just use that instead when I run out.

Split Volume Knob Source?
Happy to help. Once people start working on their KGSS amps it might be time to start a thread on them with the correct part numbers, tips etc.
-
Split Volume Knob Source?
Better yet, just buy them matched. The LSK is not available in the same package as the 2SK389 so you'd have to be creative.
-
Split Volume Knob Source?
The only hard to source part would be the 2SK389's but I can point you to a source, you can use a LSK389 or just use matched singles which are cheaper and likely better matched.

Should I Get an HD600?
The HD600 was my first high-end headphone and one I still like to this day.

Should I Get an HD600?
Dew eet, the 600 is very nice.

Split Volume Knob Source?
Pots like these were used on the older Stax amps, SRA-10 and 12 but anything after that used the RK27 version of the same design.

What US$ 500 can buy best stax headphone and amp
For 500$ it's hard to go wrong with the Stax 2050 setup, brand new as well. The SR-202 headphone is much better then the SR-303/404 (not the LE version though or the SR-SC1) and the SRM-252 is good for what it is.

The Headcase Stax thread
The Mk2 transformers have higher quality wires (PC-OCC) but the rest is pretty much the same.

Hell yeah!!! I'll drop Craig a line later today.

The Headcase Stax thread
The frame is in reality pretty strong, partially due to the 1/10" thick aluminum baffle. I've owned countless Lambdas and aside from a few broken plastic cross sections there has never been any damage to the frames and I have the habit of buying badly treated sets to give them a new lease of life. Compared to the faultless Stax QC. There have been some design issues on some models but a Lambda Pro made in 1982 sounds exactly the same as a unit made in 1990.

he60 & O2
...especially when powered by the BH. The HE60 needs power almost as much as the SR-007 and so does the SR-X Mk3 Pro...
