  1. I'll "need" a bunch of 4 gang pots soon so I'm looking into TKD and P+G options to see just how much cheaper they would be. Handy for those of us that don't need just one RK50...

Make sure you get the old drivers back since somebody might want them. It certainly would be cool to replace the woven dust covers with mylar and thus airdamp the drivers...
  3. Happy birthday Marc!!!
  4. Yup...
  5. I'm surprised he lasted this long.
  6. I'm in. I have no idea how many I'll need but 20-30 sounds about right.

The HE60 really needs a Blue Hawaii to wake it up. He used his super engineering talent to conclude a dipole driver, which as to be 100% symmetrical to achieve the low distortion electrostatics are capable of, would somehow sound better turned the other way around. Probably without ever thinking about the effects of the now open baffle.

I usually just stripped all the nylon from the headpads which made them much more comfortable.

Ahh sorry about that, half dead from flu over here. All of the other headpads will fit since all these headphones use the same basic chassis.
  10. They are extrusions.

It could be the o-ring but it is at the back of the driver so you should see it though the back grill. The odds are close to 99% that they are broken though... HDxx0 pads will not work since you have to have solid sides on the earpads to seal the baffle. That's also why the o-rings are so important. You can also ask them to do the RSA mod and reverse the drivers...
  12. I do like the new cable entry (sans port naturally) and the snug fit of the new headpad but then again I have a massive head. I'd say a modded mk2 is the mk3 though...
  13. Damn Doug, good to hear you are ok.
  14. I thought you had a BL with Mk2 pads? There is more to the Mk2 then just the pads...
  15. Mk3 with the improved parts but the sound of the Mk1...
  16. Hand drilling is fun until you mess up. I spent the last afternoon trying to drill 32mm holes into the top of a Modushop chassis where all the air slots are with a stepped drill. I really need a 35mm+ punch....
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. Happy belated BD!!
  19. Hehe... Turns out I wasn't crazy when I heard an increase in the bass and the whole sound was a bit more forward. The DC-offset went down 50% with the cap change so no wonder things perked up a bit.
  20. Nice!!!!
  21. Happy Birthday!!
  22. Yup. by far the most stupid idea on HF in a long while.
  23. Well I finally broke down and swapped out the caps in the T2. There wasn't anything wrong with them except being 15 years old, but they could have been the source for the hum which sensitive phones like the SR-003 pick up, so they had to go. First up, a couple of shots of the underside of the PSU board since it had never been removed before: The old parts were all good quality so I went a similar route, Panasonic and Nichicon caps with one Black Gate FK thrown in for good measure. The hum is still there but less of it. I must be crazy but there appears to be a little more bass slam. Stay tunes for hourly updates as the caps burn in...
  24. How about we get Tyll drunk and "lease it" though a dummy corporation?
