  1. It wouldn't hurt to match the 389's but I really wouldn't bother. It should be easy enough to bend the leads on the LSK to the right pattern.
  2. If I had the heatsinks and could therefore link the singles into a double unit, then I'd use them but I do have a small stash of 389's so I continue to use them instead. The LSK389 is supposed to be better so I might just use that instead when I run out.
  3. Happy to help. Once people start working on their KGSS amps it might be time to start a thread on them with the correct part numbers, tips etc.
  4. Better yet, just buy them matched. The LSK is not available in the same package as the 2SK389 so you'd have to be creative.
  5. The only hard to source part would be the 2SK389's but I can point you to a source, you can use a LSK389 or just use matched singles which are cheaper and likely better matched.
  6. The HD600 was my first high-end headphone and one I still like to this day.
  7. Dew eet, the 600 is very nice.
  8. Pots like these were used on the older Stax amps, SRA-10 and 12 but anything after that used the RK27 version of the same design.
  9. For 500$ it's hard to go wrong with the Stax 2050 setup, brand new as well. The SR-202 headphone is much better then the SR-303/404 (not the LE version though or the SR-SC1) and the SRM-252 is good for what it is.

    Burn Notice

    Great series indeed.
  11. The Mk2 transformers have higher quality wires (PC-OCC) but the rest is pretty much the same.
  12. Hell yeah!!! I'll drop Craig a line later today.
  13. The frame is in reality pretty strong, partially due to the 1/10" thick aluminum baffle. I've owned countless Lambdas and aside from a few broken plastic cross sections there has never been any damage to the frames and I have the habit of buying badly treated sets to give them a new lease of life. Compared to the faultless Stax QC. There have been some design issues on some models but a Lambda Pro made in 1982 sounds exactly the same as a unit made in 1990.
  14. ...especially when powered by the BH. The HE60 needs power almost as much as the SR-007 and so does the SR-X Mk3 Pro...
  15. I haven't heard anything but the use of ECC99's in the SRM-600 could mean a redesign of the 007t is in order. It is certainly a far better tube for the 6CG7 for this role and might give the circuit a much needed boost. Add some regulators to the HV lines or even a CCS for the output and it would be a very nice amp indeed.
  16. Use has no effect on the o-ring aging so it probably will need to be replaced. I've owned two supposedly NOS sets and 3 of the 4 o-rings were broken.
  17. Next step would be to make sure you have the right resistors in all the right spots and that all caps are pointing the right way. I would also reflowt all solder joints to just make sure there aren't any cold ones. Please make sure the caps are fully drained before touching the board though.
  18. Is that bolt in the middle of the PCB touching some of the traces next to it? The soldermask isn't a great insulator and high voltage will arc over a short span.
  19. Hadn't seen this one before. Very beautiful and it makes perfect sense for Stax to drop the SRM-300 in favor of a redesigned SRM323. Indeed, worthy of a temp ban at least to mention Grado here. Everything branded with Rudistor is an overpriced piece of shit. The electrostatic amps will also destroy your headphones as bonus feature.
  20. It certainly would be fun to visit Stax and present them a modded Mk2 aka how it should have been done. Btw. What do you think of this? Given the crap Rudistor usually builds at insane prices this will probably be great...
  21. Just got the PS Audio newsletter and it had a large picture of a SR-202 with this next to it: Nice story.
  22. I'm with Justin on this, just enough solder so that it makes a nice peak on both sides of the board.
  23. I figured Craig would farm this one out. It's a 4 gang pot or just quad pot. TKD also uses a suffix for the parts so 2CPxxx would be a regular stereo pot, 4CPxxxx would be the quad versions and then 6 and 8 respectively. Good luck.

Ditto... I have have Marc's address if we need it.

    Fluke 179?

I like this one, built to withstand my abuse and high voltage.
