  1. Do you have to pay extra for the chipped paint and rusty screws?

    Mmmmm drinking....
  3. The SR-003 will tell you a lot if something goes wrong. Wrong bias voltages scream at you and it's great for picking up hum.
  4. I'll see if I can't find the pics and upload them again.
  5. Happy Birthday!!!!
  6. They will work off any Stax jack since they don't need a bias supply.
  7. Should be but I couldn't find it...
  8. I even posted a how-to guide of sorts here on how to convert the Sigma's...
  9. I much prefer the way of taking a crappy SR-404 with a SR-Sigma and turn them into two awesome headphones.
  10. The T2 DIY is still a ways off but it will be ready before CJ'10.
  11. I was never that impressed with the Sigma Pro, it always sounded a bit out of control and the bass suffered. The SR-Sigma and Sigma 404 can rock with the best of them though...

    Will do!

  14. ...and here I was looking for the power input for the bias supply. ESL's would take up too much space and these are inefficient enough for me to buy some serious grunt to drive them which could later be used for some 'stats.
  15. Made 1500 muffins, not a whole lot of fun to do on my day off...

Too bad for them that Lewis was canceled...
  17. Spendor S3/5SE's I was too lazy to take a picture of my set but they look exactly like that. Power hungry beasts for the soldering rig.
  18. Intersiting. The 717 is just like the BHSE, KGSS, 313 etc. so it's something to look into since I'm running SE only. To copy what Stax did in the T2 mostly. Also moar PSU's make me happy...
  19. True but I'd rather not use any of Mikhail's ideas. The amp is really supposed to use 12AT7's (for lowest distortion) but I'm too lazy to add another B+ supply in that rather cramped PSU.

With no direct flights from here to Chicago I'll have to fly through NY. I'll probably spend some time there before and after the meet but spending Thursday through Monday in Chicago sounds like a plan.
  21. The transformers would never be more then a band aid for the ES-1 since the circuit is more then capable of running SE since that's how Stax designed it. I had these same issues with my mini ES-1 so adjusting the resistor values and using the right tubes should clear it up. I still need to buy a quad of some nice 6SN7's to try in the amp and if that clears it up, drop some loctal sockets in there for 7n7's. Big, no... gigantic, yes. Building a new enclosure for the SR-Omega drivers would be a really cool project though even if it would cost a fortune to get it right.
  22. Looks like Sherwood may expect a healthy dose of Icelandic music he can't understand...
  23. A SR-007 style chassis would probably make them even moar awesome but also rival the Rudistor tit-Anus phones in terms of size.
  24. I'm first going to test the new C- supply (which eliminates the offset) and get rid of the channel imbalance when used in SE mode. After that all bets are off as to what I'll do to the big hunk of fail. Speaking of gain issues, I wonder why Woo didn't just put in some transformers instead of an active phase splitter. Probably more expensive then a couple of tubes plus some random parts but it could be a neat solution to the ES-1 issue. As for the SR-Omega, I'd only buy another if it was broken to try and figure out how to make them work again. I only lack a chassis though to make my own. Perhaps I should bug Stax and ask if they have one sitting in a corner somewhere...
