  1. It's all about doing and burning/blowing up things while your at it.
  2. Mine is here as well. Can't wait for the 24th now...
  3. Hell look at the cramped T2 and see why it has to be this big.
  4. When I saw the first pic I thought "those look an awful lot like the Shackman drivers..."
  5. I also get some sick pleasure for reusing SP crapola in my amps. The latest prototype has filament wiring, terminal strips and capacitor clamps all rescued from the ES-1.
  6. Nope that is the girl truly freaked out by something he's hearing though a pair of Lambdas.
  7. The Stax stand is very stable.
  8. Have I got a bit more news for you.
  9. For them to compete with the ET1000, Beyer would have to make a neutral and even handed transducer and I quite frankly can't see that happening. Moar tesla, moar bass!!!!
  10. I'll see what I can do.
  11. Just got the latest HFN (Jan'10 issue) and Stax is featured in the audio milestones. Nothing new really but seeing somebody wearing Sigmas in print is pretty much priceless...
  12. Minor details...
  13. The Lambda Pro is known for its recessed midrange so switching to something like a SR-202 or Lambda Nova Signature would help. Even the normal bias SR-Lambda could be a better match.
  14. Happy birfday! I are bot!
  15. With a DAC on board then it would make perfect sense to offer a balanced output with a digital volume control. Simply slapping on a phase splitter (which are not all created equal) seems like a terrible idea to me.
  16. They would probably charge me extra for that.
  17. No threshold and roughly 70% tax on anything audio related.
  18. Yeah, I took it as input. Then this is just a SE amp with a phase splitter and a differential output stage with more noise/impedance. What a truly terrible idea.
  19. jamato said it would have a balanced input but I doubt it very much that the amp is balanced throughout. Not that it would make any sense to do so as what source are you going to use that would give you a balanced signal to work with. There is also the problem of attenuating that balanced input, either digital or go with a 4-gang analogue pot which would have to be custom ordered in 100 piece lots or even 1000.
  20. Yup, dual gang only so either he's "faking" a 4 gang pot or the output stage is only balanced. That means the balanced input is useless and one could just as well buy a SRS-001 which is smaller and cheaper.
  21. Perhaps someone should also point out to him that this isn't the first balanced portable amp ever made, he's roughly 12 years too late on this one. Cough... Stax SRS-001... cough... Ohhh as for having a financial interest, his crap isn't selling, pure and simple. Just look at that stealth phono stage which is so low key that less then 500 people have viewed the thread. Comments like the magical properties of his magical wire (made by the lowest bidder to some spec invented by bureaucrats) and the moar awesome balanced amp supposed to boost sales. No doubt he's going to offer said connector for sale to others.
  22. Ohh the humanity. Why would anybody swap out caps in a DC coupled amplifier? The bias must sound a lot better now...
  23. A solid state HDD would fare even better though.
  24. Build a floating base of some sort tied to a gyro. Well that or work on a carrier which has this system in place already.
