  1. You've met me so you should be well aware of the dangers of ice-snorting...
  2. Depends on what arc you need. Getting Stax to sell you something isn't easy though...
  3. Well I'm up for basically any location but we do need a solid core of people on the ground to make it work. As for Iceland, any form of a trade show is out of the question given how insane our customs officers are. I'm sure I could rally up all the dealers here so Sennheiser and Grado etc. but the real focus of the meet would be to just have a great time.
  4. You, good sir, are hired!!
  5. No reason I can think of to use the Mk1 pads. Probably very expensive too if you can only get them from Europe...
  6. Happy Birthday!!!
  7. Correction, I'll be looking into making them. Turns out the engraver I know has closed up shop so I'll have to find a new one...
  8. Those pads look genuine to me and you could maybe get black Mk1 pads from some of the distributors. Try Germany and the UK...
  9. I'd say go all out, balls to the wall and pit it against the T2.
  10. Good to hear. You might want to look into getting the capacitors replaced in the SRM-Monitor as it will make for a nice difference. Btw. Have you seen this yet?
  11. We can always add more pretty led's for Dinny...
  12. That's why we have torrents...
  13. Something like 10K/5W would be plenty but a 470R/5W would also work.
  14. Caps have decreased a lot in size over the last 20 years or so. I have some 100uf/450V caps which are just tiny. Those caps should work but they are designed for use in a chassis with low height clearance so they are wider then a normal cap would be. If they fit then they fit but do measure the pitch of the terminals on the Stax board (you can just remove the bottom panel to see them) but take care with the high voltage on them. Snap in would be correct.

    Canjam 2010.

  16. The pots should be marked on the board, offset and balance. TO adjust the offset put probes on the + and - outputs and adjust for 0VDC. Of the offset put on probe to + and one to ground and adjust for 0VDC.
  17. This will be be very cool. Al has something like this already...
  18. That means moar bass then?

Fuck, I want a Drunk Monk now...
  20. You could parallel them for the main PSU caps but then you'd need another box just to house the caps. All the modern Stax amps are DC coupled so no caps in the signal path.
  21. Hehe, I'd say it was the other way around.
  22. I would use any good caps that fit, no audiophile nonsense for me. The stock caps are 15+ years old and way past their prime and since the PSU is unregulated it will have a large impact on the sound.
  23. No resistors, just direct connections to the connectors on either side of the transformers.
