    Audeze LCD-2

Yeah, that what I mean. They will sell a lot of units now but in a couple of months the FS board will be flooded with used units and they won't sell any new ones. This has happened on HF time and time again...
  2. For my ears the KGSS is more then good enough to drive the SR-007 so I see nothing wrong with trying out different DAC's to find the sound you are looking for.

There actually is quite a bit of damping going on in the SR-007, you just can't see it. Have you tried to adjust the arcs on the SR-007 to better fit your head? The lack of bass might be caused by the loose fit besides the amp not supplying enough current for the lower registers. I recently tried a completely untouched SR-007mk1 and they sounded like poo compared to my set. Now I have a gigantic head so a stock set will never fit me properly but it was a useful experiment wrt to the importance of a proper fit.

I can't see a problem with uncovering new ways to make them even moar awesome... I fear the fallout off of all this hype will not be good for Audeze...

    That would explain some things...

KGSSHV FTMFW but then again I'm biased... The SR-007Mk1 has for me utterly crushed any and all contenders to the throne so the LCD-2 has to be something really special to topple it. I can't wait to spend some time with them next week though...
  8. Get better Jim! For me I voted in the local elections and then had my first car crash. Nobody was hurt but the front of my car is a mangled mess and with a punched radiator I didn't dare drive it.
  9. A 0-15VDC/2A variable PSU and some US currency. Damn communists in the government here, it was bad enough when we could only get about 4K$ worth of currency each but now they're limiting credit card use in the US too. Useless fucktards!!!
  10. Too cool Craig, just too cool.
  11. Most of the Rudistor amps are in fact not built by him so yeah, quality of these will likely be crap.

...and I'll continue to do so just to mess with you.

The SR-007 is an Omega but the Omega is the SR-Ω
  14. Pfft... I'm going to pick up a tiny Acer tomorrow to have something to watch TV and listen to music on while on my way to CJ.
  15. In a way yes.
  16. This thread makes me want to buy a Stax SRA-3S for my SR-1... That's my old one.
  17. They do have an alarming trend to return defective gear from servicing. I also love that they use just any resistors when doing repairs, even nasty 5% carbon crap.
  18. I paid a shop to remove the tires on my VW and check the brake pads which the computer insists are busted. Plenty of life left in them yet it still gives me an error message... Ohh and some moar powdercoating though does paying with cakes and baked goods count? The SRM-Xh balanced amp will be rather pretty...
  19. That's pretty epic...
  20. My ESX was built using the final ES-1 schematic and it works like a charm. The only change I made was to wire a 100K resistor to ground from between the 100uf caps in the first stage but that is only to increase their life. With four 7n7's (6SN7's) the amp biases perfectly but if I put in some 7f7's (6SL7's) then I can't quite get half the B+ for the first stage but the output stage is AC coupled so it remains unaffected. To get rid of the offset before I rebuilt the thing, I just had to rewire the output stage according to KG's schematic and add new pots since the stock ones are crap. Then I connected three 9V batteries in series with the - rail of the PSU to generate the C-supply (with a nice sign "do not ever touch these batteries since they sit at 400V" ) and the amp worked just fine like that.
  21. The Good Guys pilot. I quite liked it but it's on Fox so the odds of it surviving past 5 episodes are slim at best.
  22. We can hardly invade something we discovered but didn't want...
  23. Happy Birthday!!!
  24. Those cases can be made quite nice now that they are available as 100% aluminum. It can handle the heat of the BH so the KGSSHV would be a good fit.
  25. In electronics, the term jumper is often used to mean a short length of wire. For instance if you are going to run a balanced amp with RCA inputs you have to install a jumper in the XLR input to short pin 1 and pin 3. The jumper is just a short length of wire. While the EHT supply stores very little energy the high voltage means you would get a nasty shock from it should you come into contact with the circuit even after the speaker has been turned off. The fix does make perfect sense and shouldn't be too hard with a soldering iron and some soldering wick/desoldering pump to clear off the old solder from the holes in the board.
