I like my bass on the lean side, full but lean. I did spend some time with Doug's set and they aren't half bad but it did take me some time to get the best fit. The earpads aren't the best in the world...

Me hating ortho's couldn't be further from the truth. Hell I started the ortho thread here... The HE-5 is far from acceptable so let's not count that but Colon's TP's were just awesome from Scott's Dynamight. Not perfect but like so many truly great headphones, more good then bad and the "bad" just gives them character and doesn't detract from the overall experience. That can't be said about HE-5's... The LCD-2's need work and if they won't fix potential issues such as with the height system and the shitty cable (how hard is it to get 4 strand braided 24awg wire and cover it in multi filament) it could blow up in their face and I for one don't want that. The bass also needed taming but some people do like a little bit of bloat...

I came home at about 8am my time after a rather long trip. Good to be home but it also means less drink...

Never heard any difference with or without the foam. It is as open cell as you can get so it should have no effect on the sound what so ever. I've tired the new pads and they are obviously different. Has nothing to do with the inlay as they are built the like the old prototype pads. Edt: Seal is everything with the SR-007 so I wouldn't recommend using them with glasses.

Jacob did ban me like 3 times in his infamous "shut the fuck up, I'm talking" mode. About to board the plane. Yay for emergency exit with plenty of legroom for free. I also bought some Senn CX250 for use with the ALO...

I can't believe I missed this amp and Doug during the meet... Damn drinking...

I do what I can... you bloody drunkard!!

I didn't do enough raping and pillaging though...

Hey!!! I have no recollection of that and at the advise of counsel (Al naturally) I deny everything!!! I do admit to buying a shitload of booze and sharing it freely...

Yup, the reward is bear hugs...

You have a BHSE in there so I'm not feeling sorry for you. I'm back at Logan after a quick trip to Boston and getting very, very lost. Went to Ratshack and bought a SPL meter and just ate some sbarro pizza. I'm looking at the IEM's in the airport store wondering whether I should spring for one of them over the MX500. Why doesn't anybody sell the Ety's? Still 2 hours until I fly off...

Lower voltage but the power output should be equal. There is just so much stuff in the T2 that gives off heat...
-
Stax bitches!!!!!! I did like the LCD-2 and the Thunderpants but the HE-5 was a massive letdown.

Kudos to both of you. I always knew there was something in the Texas water... In all seriousness, being open about these things is always the best way to go and I'm humbled that you feel good enough here to share it with us. Also my thanks to both of you for offering up a whole new avenue of jokes. Extra bear hugs from Boston.

The WES is certainly not anywhere near the BHSE/T2 level in performance. They should have used far more voltage on those EL34's

One of the reasons I didn't touch those monstrosities... The stock cable is quite bad though in terms of ergonomics.
-
Do you like the sound? If you have any hum then turn the AC plug 180

I for one was rather confused by Jacob's rant at Pete but then again I didn't hear all of it. Instead we had to go and bust down some doors to hunt for Al.... I'm right now sitting at the Terminal E lobby at Logan and have to wait for at least 3 hours until I can check in. I think a trip doiwntown is in order.

I heard the LCD-2 in the Woo room and I get the SR-007 link since they were obviously using them as inspiration. I wasn't too happy with the sound though, the Thunderpants impressed me more and the HE-5 comes dead lastt. The LCD-2 bass was unimpressive at best, non linear to my ears but that's their only major flaw. The rest is simply not that good to my ears and that cable is a stupid idea and utterly terrible in every day use. The cables on each side dragged across my shoulders when ever I turned my head. The height adjustment on the Woo set was already worse for wear. so I doubt it will last long. Comfort was ok but not great.

I request that Shelly's username will be changed to colin as she's taken over that role.

The Alo RX out of my netbook, with Blind Guardian on Flac and Doug's 98% THD's isn't half bad. You can expect a Stax mod for the RX though...
-
I've already started to drink the leftover beer and I'm listening to Doug's SFI's. I'm going to question Tyll's measurements as these aren't that bad once you get the correct fit. Either that or the Alo Rx shits all over the Headroom amp... Thanks for a great time over the weekend.
-
I listened to the new DSP combo and is isn't half bad but there is a clear coloration in the lower midbass quite similar in nature to the etch some of the Stax headphones have. I do like the idea but I doubt that those amps inside the 500$ box are close to TOTL. It does open up the idea for a serious 'stat IEM which would naturally need no DSP or crossover.
-
Pure win on that Colon. I'm sitting here listening to the Alo RX which I won yesterday in the raffle. Senn MX500's really do suck...

I spent some time with the T1 off the Woo5 and it's certainly better then most of the other stuff they've done but unimpressive comes to mind.
