  1. For this type of stuff I'm fortunate to have two local stores that sell stuff like this but the prices...
  2. I use the pink bags from Mouser to sort things by project and there are a lot of those about. I always buy too much but somehow never have the right parts when another project comes along.
  3. If the bias on the Koss really is 300V (as the circuitry inside the E90 points to) then no wonder they blew up. You should talk to your son about safe listening levels though...
  4. That's probably a bad tube Al. As for me, I spent the day soldering in a feeble attempt to try and clear up the mountain of projects I have here. I really need to start building boxes for some of these or they will never get done. After that I closed the day at the bakery and then had some pizza with by brother and watched TV together.
  5. Yup and add to that a lovely 60% tax since any electronics here are a luxury commodity...
  6. I just bought from them for another project. Very quick shipping.
  7. Now you just need to buy the new SR-007Mk2.5...
  8. Glad to hear it is a keeper.
  9. That layout would make no sense at all since the output sockets are at the front and the inputs at the back. Why run wires back and forth just for the look? Ohh and I'm glad it worked.
  10. Wrong value would be my guess then.
  11. No burning parts is a good sign but did you test all the LED's prior to installing them?
  12. FACT: Most of them are useless fanboi drivel
  13. Happy birthday Greg!!!
  14. The only thing needed to finish off a truly over the top amp... a solid titanium knob. It was either this or pay a retarded anodizing fee for a one off silver knob.
  15. Good times!!! I also managed to lift Justin too high so his head hit the ceiling as I wasn't prepared for just how light he is...
  16. Most excellent!!! Since the chassis is all black one has to have a bit of silver to make it look better.
  17. I for one quickly gave up on the US Life on Mars. The UK version is far superior IMO.
  18. Here is a quick snapshot I took before I packaged it all up again for storage. The heatsinks look great, beyond great even but the other panels are a bit flat. Also notice the small marks on each end of the panels which go right through the finish. Yeah, one of the Stax jacks is messed up but I'm too tired to take a picture of it.
  19. Insulation is your friend with this stuff.
  20. Yup. Not entirely sure why they used that instead of mylar since polyurethane's big selling point when used in grocery bags is that it will break down with time... The key here is really mass as the electrostatic force is so weak. To get the speed a modern model can do you need to either use a thinner membrane or use extreme tension and thicker material. The latter solution has many issues though as you kill the bass amongst other things. That would be the ET990 to compliment the real Beyer 'stat, the ET1000.
  21. Absolutely. It provides a nice comparison point against the crap Meier, RSA and others are peddling at higher prices but to say it is superior to a M3 is just fucking nuts.
  22. I'd spec the transformer at 100mA for some extra headroom but I like to overbuild...
  23. You'd love it... if you are man enough...
  24. Hehe...
