WTF indeed. I just love stuff like this, no idea how bloody well designed the original was but this guy could clearly do better....

I'd have to see the SR-003 up close but the plug works well so I don't see any need to change it. There are also not that many options in such a tiny system...

This is indeed a new, more expensive Omega. It's not a replacement for the SR-007.

Aside from the large number of small caps (49 I think) it is pretty easy to swap them out. There are also only two values used in the DAC, large 2200uf caps in the PSU and small (10uf?) elsewhere.

You could try the bitumen shingles since all you are doing is adding mass.

SRM-300 Stax amp. Way too light to do any real damage...

The Stax Sigma's are in some ways similar but yeah, the K1k is pretty unique.

The transformer primaries could have an effect here even with nothing connected to the Stax sockets.

The normal bias only version was made well into the 80's going all the different boards I've seen used in them. Most are pretty easy to fit with pro bias...

If it was deionized water then it was fine but normal water... Faulty insulation would be the most probable culprit here.
