  1. I'm so in but retarded restrictions on moving money out of the country delayed the wire until Monday. As for whole "how loud they sound" means nothing as pretty much any of the Stax amps will make the SR-007 or SR-Omega shockingly loud. Sensitivity is just that, how loud they will be at 100V RMS but it says nothing about how the amp handles the load. Remember people, the voltage is the easy bit...
  2. Nope, we didn't have that one. Could be a variation of the SRM-3 circuit (i.e the SRM-Xh with a full size PSU) so it will be interesting to see.
  3. I so want that picture with a stack of SR-009's!! Time to get back to work on the T2...
  4. You can always fit mini XLR's which do fit perfectly in the stock Stax RCA holes... The SRA-14S is one of the few amps that I haven't bought and set to KG for analysis so it would be great to see the schematic.
  5. I might be in as well. I'll let you know ASAP!!
  6. I've never tried the SRM-600 so I can't comment. The 507 was just fine with a SRM-T1 modified to be similar to the SRM-600 it just how similar I don't know.
  7. You really need a 1000V cap there since the voltage doubler easily reaches 700V...
  8. Happy birthday old chap!!!
  9. Ahh but the SRA-14S can be modified to take a balanced input. You'd have to rewire it completely and do some light mods to the PCB but the amplifier unit is basically a SRM-1 Mk2 which is fully balanced. Kevin sent me your patent a while back, very cool stuff. Btw. Here is the amp I was referring too, fully balanced and about the size of the old double CD cases...
  10. It would be pretty cool to take the digital output from an iphone and feed it into a balanced dac and then into my balanced SRM-Xh...
  11. I did something similar with the ESX. I needed a simple C- supply so four 9V batteries off the B- for a -460V supply...
  12. Yup and it didn't fail me now. Who needs sleep anyway... I need to do some cleanup and trim a faction of a millimeter off the XLR loopout socket on the right plus drill the mounting holes for those but it was indeed a very tight fit. Also, yeah those are silver WBT's, might as well use them for something...
  13. That is a very nice way to do it. I'm struggling to fit 4 XLR connectors, a 4PDT switch and 4 RCA's to the back panel in the small space between the umbilical sockets. About 1mm of space to spare and then there is that little voice saying "better not fuck this up"...
  14. Right now I'm just not sleeping so I can solder in all the transistors on the amp. Well that and add XLR loopouts and RCA inputs/outputs.
  15. How's your Danish? It was shown on the TV here but I've seen it floating around with English subs...
  16. It´s alive!!!! I had a minor scare when I forgot to tighten one of the 485VAC wires (so the PSU made no sense at all) but it was quickly fixed. No noises and no smoke and the same goes for the + side as well. Now I just need to finalize the wiring and turn my attention to the amp chassis...
  17. Good to know. I'm rearranging the wires now so back with some news shortly
  18. It appears I have good news on the T2 front. Today is my first day off in a month and a half so I'm running at approximately 50% which is way more than is the norm. The first thing I did was to go over the PSU and everything was as it should be, all resistors matched the schematic and everything was properly soldered. So that wasn't the issue I checked the transformers and lo and behold, I didn't get any resistance readings on the 485 and 285 windings... Turns out SumR fucked up the data sheet so violet*/gray were listed for the 485VAC winding but it is supposed to be gray/blue. Ditto for the 285VAC windings, they listed blue*/green but it really is violet/green. Here are some pics of the other transformer under test but the resistance on the offending transformer is the same: Needless to say I'm not happy but I'm more angry at myself for trusting the datasheet... Now I just have to fix the leads and hook everything up for testing.

  20. Wise words my friend. My set will be from the first batch so Stax will have one angry viking on their hands if it isn't up to snuff...
  21. The SR-Lambda is something truly special. It goes up there with the SR-1 and SR-3 as some of my all time favorite headphones...
  22. The stock T2 was set to "oven mode" so it is entirely possible. They were almost crazy enough to run the stock amp at full power too...
  23. The Lambdas (any of them really) are very good but they have always been more about generating a speaker like soundstage rather than absolute transparency. There is also some mild bass boom (though the new ones are much better here) while the SR-X is pretty much at a Grado level for soundstage but don't sound like poo (bar the HP-1000 though)... The KGSSHV is still in prototype phase but you can get the board files to have some made. The amp does work just fine and it is a screaming bargain given how advanced it is. First you don't like the SR-202 (probably the only one) and now the 4070? You need moar booze...
  24. Those of us outside of the EU are a bit more problematic (Iceland, Norway and Switzerland for western Europe) as these countries all have massive import tariffs.
