  1. All Lambda drivers prior to the new series are fixed in place with double sided tape.
  2. It's not something I can discuss but there may be an SR-011 later on which may use it. Here's hoping... They were just worried about the aluminum being a conductor if something went horribly wrong. The SR-007 is a much better mechanical design so this can't happen any more.
  3. Well first and foremost is the price of aluminum. It is dirt cheap and easy to machine. I also know Stax considered something else for the SR-009 but dropped it due to cost.
  4. This is indeed beyond belief.
  5. Aluminum has much better resonance properties compared to any plastic so that's why it is used. The SR-Omega uses a resistor based CT to ground the metal frame but the later models do not.
  6. New stickers and cryo FTW!!!! The SR-SC1 does sound lovely and very different from the old 404 so they may commission Stax to do something special for them but at a price....

    Audeze LCD-2

Yup, but we don't like being on the receiving end of that tradition...

    Audeze LCD-2

Indeed. We need a new CJ where I can get pissed and scare the Schiit guys...
  9. I've been doing that every day for more than 6 months now so one gets used to it. Not staying until 5PM is really the hard part though...
  10. I was playing around with my new camera on my way to work last week. Here is a shot of the midnight sun and the mountains north of Reykjavik at roughly 4:15AM.
  11. Condolences Al.
  12. There is something to be said about the old units. I've been using my mint SR-1's for a week now off a cheap T-amp and one of my transformer solutions. Lovely sound. I would recommend you source some SR-007 earpads as they made the sets much more comfortable. There is a difference to the sound but I for one quite like it.
  13. Same thing here but right after that I noticed the gigantic bass coloration. Is it still just an Alo RX?
  14. Most Stax are indeed very comfy but the 507 isn't one of them. The earpads are too small and the arc is just uncomfortable despite being enormous... As for being bright, the Sr-007 Mk2 SZ3 sounds nothing like the Mk1 and they are even annoyingly forward with my NOS dac.
  15. If the 009 is anything like the SZ3 007's then they will be gone very quickly indeed.
  16. You can't really go wrong with the 507 unless you are easily annoyed by bright transducers. There are also some comfort issues with my rather large head so I'd take a SR-404 frame/earpads over the 507 setup any day.
  17. Did you reverse the diode next to the 7812? That could cause something like this...
  18. You can get most of the transistors from bdent.com. The 3675 is end of life but you should have no issues tracking some down. Plenty of alternatives too and if you are in a bind, PM me as I have a few hundred. Ditto on the 1486 and 1968. The 1156 should be replaced with the 1486 if you are using that one in the PSU. The RLED is actually the chassis led indicator and has nothing to do with the circuit. Just pick a LED and feed the forward voltage and desired current through an online calculator. It's fed off the +15V supply.
  19. The P&G is also only available in 10K with a 20K custom order. Not really an issue except for crazy people like me who use and like a NOS dac and tube CDP's...
  20. A Olympus E-P1 with the stock 17mm and an extra 14-42mm lens. I friend gave me a good deal and it is a neat little camera.
  21. I'd rather just have the RK50 though.
  22. ...and when has that ever stopped us?
  23. Thanks for the kind words. No cake for me today but my mom is going to bake pancakes for me soon.
