  1. Looking good Douglas!!
  2. Now that would be a brilliant idea. I would also be open for some machined adapter plates so I can try my collection of Lambda drivers in those frames.
  3. The squealing issue could be due to the practically unprotected drivers. Koss did make reservations for a voltage divider in the amp to cut the bias supply so this makes it a more likely cause. I've been itching to get a ESP950 and fit the drivers in the HE90 frame I have here. Groupbuy?
  4. Happy Birthday!!
  5. Happy Birthday Antonio!!!!
  6. Mine was some industrial use stuff but that could work. As for removing it... you don't...
  7. I'm crazy but I'm not that crazy. I do wonder what resistors they use in those modules though. Ohh and their implementation of a USB input is just the coolest...
  8. I do have plans for a TOTL source but a MSB DACIV Signature is a just a tad more expensive...
  9. That would be no idea on both accounts. I've stopped using the double sided tape in favor of polyurethane glue. As for the SR-007 drivers, it's just one of these things that I get offered from random people. Odds are though that replacements would be Mk2 parts which sound like poo...
  10. I've just reached the point that I don't use discs at all so the APL will go on sale soon. It's a fine dac but it's just too damn big and I'm in a mood to scale down a bit. Well that an I want a low output impedance SS source to play with.
  11. Main-ish...
  12. I need to see how many wires enter the transformer on the left side of that picture, between it and the display. A picture of the side of the transformer (which faces the PCB's) would also be nice since that's where the specs are printed. If this is a stock unit then I could just buy another one and swap it out.
  13. Will do. If you see a 230V unit let me know. I'll also have to ask Ayre and see if I can buy one directly from them since there is nobody here who represents them.
  14. It is a rather different tape, much flatter and the glue used is different. The only way to secure the drivers is to remover the earpads.
  15. Most manufacturers would never allow the end user to mess with this but I do wonder if it is possible to do so. The pics I've seen just show two wires going to the IEC socket but they could be hiding two more somewhere.
  16. Necro bumb. I've been thinking about picking up one of these for a while now but 230V units are pretty thin on the ground. Does anybody know if the transformer has split primaries so I could just modify a 115V unit?
  17. All Lambda drivers prior to the new series are fixed in place with double sided tape.
  18. It's not something I can discuss but there may be an SR-011 later on which may use it. Here's hoping... They were just worried about the aluminum being a conductor if something went horribly wrong. The SR-007 is a much better mechanical design so this can't happen any more.
  19. Well first and foremost is the price of aluminum. It is dirt cheap and easy to machine. I also know Stax considered something else for the SR-009 but dropped it due to cost.
  20. This is indeed beyond belief.
  21. Aluminum has much better resonance properties compared to any plastic so that's why it is used. The SR-Omega uses a resistor based CT to ground the metal frame but the later models do not.
  22. New stickers and cryo FTW!!!! The SR-SC1 does sound lovely and very different from the old 404 so they may commission Stax to do something special for them but at a price....

    Audeze LCD-2

Yup, but we don't like being on the receiving end of that tradition...

    Audeze LCD-2

Indeed. We need a new CJ where I can get pissed and scare the Schiit guys...
  25. I've been doing that every day for more than 6 months now so one gets used to it. Not staying until 5PM is really the hard part though...
