  1. Happy Birthday little guy!!!
  2. Yeah, these graphs don't look too promising but knowing which version of the SR-007A they used is critical to understanding the graphs. SZ2 and SZ3 sound nothing like each other in the top end...
  3. Me no like the bassies so this is a natural filter...
  4. My cables are thin enough to wind around your finger (28AWG or thinner wire) so no issues here...
  5. So.... should I start preparing the cake now?
  6. This was just built for a laugh. A friend had some of these cables just gathering dust but needed more IC's. Enter team overkill... They will have to be supported though, they are not light.

    Stax plug

The old Amphenol sockets aren't exactly the correct size so they grab a bit too much. The Stax sockets are much nicer but not 80+$ nice...
  8. This one has been sitting around for months so finally some time to finish it. May I present the ultimate in insane cabling.... That's a Kimber KS-3033 turned into an IC. I also did a balanced one a few months back.
  9. I'll take some measurements later on.
  10. Looking good Douglas!!
  11. Now that would be a brilliant idea. I would also be open for some machined adapter plates so I can try my collection of Lambda drivers in those frames.
  12. The squealing issue could be due to the practically unprotected drivers. Koss did make reservations for a voltage divider in the amp to cut the bias supply so this makes it a more likely cause. I've been itching to get a ESP950 and fit the drivers in the HE90 frame I have here. Groupbuy?
  13. Happy Birthday!!
  14. Happy Birthday Antonio!!!!
  15. Mine was some industrial use stuff but that could work. As for removing it... you don't...
  16. I'm crazy but I'm not that crazy. I do wonder what resistors they use in those modules though. Ohh and their implementation of a USB input is just the coolest...
  17. I do have plans for a TOTL source but a MSB DACIV Signature is a just a tad more expensive...
  18. That would be no idea on both accounts. I've stopped using the double sided tape in favor of polyurethane glue. As for the SR-007 drivers, it's just one of these things that I get offered from random people. Odds are though that replacements would be Mk2 parts which sound like poo...
  19. I've just reached the point that I don't use discs at all so the APL will go on sale soon. It's a fine dac but it's just too damn big and I'm in a mood to scale down a bit. Well that an I want a low output impedance SS source to play with.
  20. Main-ish...
  21. I need to see how many wires enter the transformer on the left side of that picture, between it and the display. A picture of the side of the transformer (which faces the PCB's) would also be nice since that's where the specs are printed. If this is a stock unit then I could just buy another one and swap it out.
  22. Will do. If you see a 230V unit let me know. I'll also have to ask Ayre and see if I can buy one directly from them since there is nobody here who represents them.
  23. It is a rather different tape, much flatter and the glue used is different. The only way to secure the drivers is to remover the earpads.
  24. Most manufacturers would never allow the end user to mess with this but I do wonder if it is possible to do so. The pics I've seen just show two wires going to the IEC socket but they could be hiding two more somewhere.
  25. Necro bumb. I've been thinking about picking up one of these for a while now but 230V units are pretty thin on the ground. Does anybody know if the transformer has split primaries so I could just modify a 115V unit?
