  1. No weight saving there. A r-core is essentially just a toroid designed to save space.
  2. The way I see it Alex Cavalli has a lot to prove after the Exstata fuckup. Now none of his amps are well designed so if he's smart then he took the fixed Exstata design KG sent him and used that. That amp would not be quite up to the standard of the KGSSHV but not a bad attempt. Largely stolen from the 90's Stax amps though but lets just leave that aside. Here is what my take on this amp looks like: It was done from the KGSSHV boards so that's why they are so similar. Now for what's actually in the box, we'll have to wait and see but reports of it running cool and being very light (8lbs) aren't very promising. Certainly doesn't point to a high bias outputstage and the large heatsinks/transformer needed to sustain it. One thing that we can be sure of is that NoNoNoNoNoNo has become the laughing stock of HF for his blatant shilling of this amp. Lots of discussion about this and the few people considering an amp have all backed off due to this.
  3. If it comes to that then I'll just buy a few thousand and sell them back to people as is needed.

    Audeze LCD-2

That is certainly on my to-do list. The F5 will be interesting...
  5. The 1500V bias might make the Jades better...or kill them. Doesn't matter much to me... It's a real shame that the floats don't fit my head though, perhaps a custom unit is in order. Perhaps a TakeT type affair with those huge drivers.
  6. Happy Birthday!!!
  7. The MIT interconnects I've opened have a 100K resistor between the signal and ground, nothing more.
  8. The bias supply is easy enough to make. On the amp it is +1500VDC with a 32M ballast resistor and two 22nF caps on either side in series.
  9. The BHSE should have no trouble driving the Jecklins with a +1200V bias supply. Now getting those connectors would be impossible though.
  10. Not really even though my Icelandic always shines through. The amp is quite bad though, SRPP with ECC81's and a B+ of 900V.
  11. What, you without Floats is like me without a SR-007....
  12. My issue with this is the age old story of taking something cheap, putting it in a nice box, shower it with BS about modding etc. and then sell it on for a far higher price. People might like the end result but have they ever tried the stock amp in a blind setting? Hell, have they ever tried the multitude of cheap T-class amps you can get from China, some of which are rather nice for the price.
  13. Happy Birthday!!
  14. NOS dacs can be an issue too even though they have SS output stages. Other than that you just get lower noise.
  15. Not a bad price but that amp is quite the cluster fuck...
  16. With a energizer you always sacrifice a bit of detail but gain slam and extra voltage swing.
  17. In that case is just a crappy T-amp sold for way, way, way too much money. The batteries are also something I don't get. People always focus on the "no noise" and look past all the issues normal PSU's don't have.
  18. I'll send you some, 2.5L of Cognac used for one batch...

  21. That was indeed my point. Btw. Here are the switches in question: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/508476101/LA19_AJS_LED_illuminated_switch_push.html http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/485100004/IP65_Waterproof_Black_metal_Push_button.html
  22. Ahh the joy of dealing with Yama's directly, a company mostly known for not picking up the telephone... ever!
  23. Pile of parts from PCX. Bloody discount offers get me every time...
  24. This a while back but the prices weren't so bad. Same goes for the other dual Toshiba's they had in stock.
