How is charging people for about 20-30 times the number of parts that actually need to be replaced customer service? It's comparable to bringing a car in for a worn timebelt and have the whole bloody engine changed out. Fine if you don't have to pay for it but I doubt anybody having the repair done out of warranty would be happy about this. That connector BS is why I bought single terminal blocks to make this much easier.

Those are all 8 pin circular units and micro phonics aren't something I've noticed but as of yet it hasn't been put into proper use. Never been a fan of the inline mounting either though it makes fitting them much easier. These were not fun as the markings on the Soviet units didn't match up to the pins, not even close.

I think it has more to do with being clueless. Even the DIY projects are fucked in this regard.

For me the sub-mini is more of a "can this possibly work" challenge and I guess it is the same for Schiit. Why not waste some money on a crazy project... Of all the stuff I've done this has the biggest WTF factor from my friends. Being able to hold an 8 tube amp in the palm of your hand is very cool... Its it as good as the full size GES Mk2? Nope but who cares...
-
Looks like the Mk1 might be better build than that one. Just look at how many wires are soldered to the amp board...
-
The first problem with that amp are the tubes used, 6SN7 and 2A3/300B are all fine tubes but should not be used together. The 6SN7 just doesn't have what it takes to drive the DHT's properly. Why this combo is so widely used just goes to show why most of high-end audio is just the same crap done over and over and over again. The 6SN7 would be a fine input tube (though the ECC's are more modern and better) and then something else to drive the DHT's. A cheap one in current production is the ECC99 which was designed for this role. The Russian version would also work. Second issue are the transformers used by Woo. In every Woo product I've taken apart the transformers are dirt cheap garbage. Seriously, anybody thinking the Woo Wee is better than a Stax SRD-7 is just delusional. In a simple amp such as this the quality of the transformer is paramount so I wouldn't settle for anything less than a bifilar wound C-core, done by somebody who knows what they are doing. Lastly the power supplies. This is Woo after all so we all know the power supply is fucked. Rectifier tube run way past its rating to help people believe rolling them makes a difference?

Well... it is more similar than not. Lower voltage but the KGSSHV was never really about the voltage...
-
Gotta love subminiatures. I need to finish my Stax submini amp...
-
Well... they didn't. The bias was also not nearly has high.
-
This one is more like "inspired" by the original Squarewave than a direct copy.
-
This stuff isn't about high quality, it's just about using tubes people know about and can waste an untold amount of money to roll.
-
Mine is pretty different so it hard to compare against this version. If anybody has heard a fixed SRM-007t it's like that except more better.
-
Sleep is overrated anyway and way to go.
-
Expensive equals good. Sprinkle on some DHT's and it is awsome!!!
-
Yes, the Mk1 which we have always said is exactly the same as the Mk2 except some minor PCB stuff. It was always completely different though and pretty much crap... horrendous crap that nobody in their right mind should have bought. Looking at the available pics the Mk2 is still the same garbage, same cheap PCB's, same parts used, same crap build quality, same non working and dangerous bias supply and I think the Mk1 chassis might have been better. Hard to tell though without a hands on review but quality steel chassis is better than a cheap alu unit.

Some shills...

That case used to be our version of the LL but it made no sense to finalize it so the mini ESX inherited the case. That one has the original Exstata PSU which naturally is shit so that needs to be fixed.
-
It could be a NOS 6973 but they go for silly prices.
-
Yes, if Alex had any clue. This one is also cheaper to build when done at lower voltages. It's been one of these projects that has been on the backburner for way too long. Here is mine, adapted from boards Marc did and pretty close to what I'm doing with the SRM-007t. Still in that... works but not finished stage along with dozens and dozens of other projects. Been like this since 2011...
-
Always have faith in clueless people staying with their clueless nature. Well that and I've had the schematic for that abomination for years... Those are 6S4A's so they at least got something right.
-
To add to this then there is the mod to the SRM-007t which turns it into a KGST, aka a mini BHSE.
