  1. That would make sense as I'm still using Nec parts.
  2. Why would they tell the dealers who are supposed to flog the unsold stock...
  3. The Jade and the HE-5 hold a special place for me as some of the worst headphones ever made so no, they are not good. I really don't get why people think the HE-6 is good...
  4. Well they are as good as the WES driving a SR-007Mk2, so pretty much shit then...
  5. Ahh that's right. What the hell is the AZ then? So good it covers all the (US) alphabet?
  6. Puts fingers in ears... "LALALALALALALALALALALALA" I need a proper workshop and then it's time for CNC.
  7. Indeed!!!
  8. True but it's less bulky than a CNC...
  9. Thanks for that I got five copies almost immediately. It's fun to read the DIYA thread though as some familiar faces try to edge the project in the right direction but no go...
  10. Aren't the 1486az the SMD part? Not that it matters for the new HV amp boards....
  11. I'd settle for a square hole punch that fits any of the standard IEC's....
  12. We agree on that. It's perfect for HF though, crappy product shilled by idiots...
  13. Ahh the defense of the snake oil peddlers, measurements can not capture the true glory of my cluster fuck. They simply have transcended the laws of nature at this point...
  14. I wasn't hoping for much but one is ever so curious. Could be a variation of the same circuit King Sound uses in the M-10 and the sockets might be the King Sound units as well. It's hard to tell with any certainty but it appears to have the same textured finish. Looks like a version of this design: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2609-Full-aluminum-chassis-Preamp-box-Power-amp-Enclosure-Case-DIY-/400526703642?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Amplifier_Parts&hash=item5d41407c1a There is also the 2607 so this could be the 2608...
  15. So they aren't seeing the scratches? That's fucked up but I wouldn't be surprised that they are looking at the wrong set. Anybody know anything about this one? http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.129.3xZ4Zw&id=36525626565
  16. Happy New Year!!!
  17. Get well soon Ken.
  18. I have a pile of PSU and Squarewave boards here that I'll probably never use. Just PM if you need a set. No KSA5 though or at least I don't think so.
  19. While the amp is stable into 8ohms I'd recommend proper power amp for this role. The PSU is always the bottleneck so dual S22's with big heatsinks are the bare minimum. Personally I'd just build a F5....
  20. on the mosfets... So the trick is to take a device which is wholly unsuitable for the job and use it in a circuit which looks like something Stax did in 1972. I appreciate the effort but no way this thing works well when somebody actually builds it. Ohh and can somebody send me a text pdf that isn't corrupted...
  21. The "serial label" I find funny...
  22. 90% of my cases come from modushop and they are great to deal with.
  23. The minus rail really likes to meet ground in a violent way. Lift up the caps (I use m3 nylon spacers) and all resistors and you'll be fine. Also... flux on the boards is a big no no.
  24. Now that I've looked over the files I'd recommend highly against using this. Works just fine but it has all the problems of the first run of KGSSHV psu's so the odds of it going arcy sparcy are huge. I'm not going to spend one second fixing them either. I'd just use the current HV psu and add a separate delay line.
  25. No problem supplying you with the Gerber files but this has never been tested.
