  1. Thanks everyone! robm321, The REX amps are something special.
  2. They dropped in very close to where the Carmels and JL audio subs were. Little less toe in, and I'm a little farther away from these. Pretty easy switch.
  3. Recently upgraded from YG Acoustics Carmels to YG Kipod Signature II speakers. Thought at first the BAT amps didn't have enough power, but it's settling in, and they are great together.
  4. When can you get away Mike? I work this weekend and then free for a long time. Sent an email to your hotmail account.
  5. Been switching between a Benz Micro Gullwing and the Lyra Kleos. Biggest pruchase for system in a pretty long time (and an eye opener) is the Audio desk Systeme record cleaner.
  6. Ordered a new Grado Statement Reference1 cartridge. Should have it on next week. A friend has the Statement1 and it always sounds really good. Couldnt swing that much $$$ so bought the one under it. I'll let you guys know how it does in comparison to the cartridges i have here.
  7. Setup was a breeze, it is super quiet, speed is dead on. Sounds fast after the Michell and VPI. Very powerful sound tons of detail, soundstage depth very good but width not quite as good as the Michell. But still outside the speakers. Weakness would be a little dry in upper midrange. Could be I'm hearing more of the lyra though, not sure. Very happy and about as far as I can go $$$ wise. Saving now for mega cartridge and second REX amp.
  8. Avid Sequel-SME V-Lyra Kleos-Kubala
  9. I get to listen to the SP cartridge alot. A friend who bought my VPI uses it. Nice cartridge. edit, his is the wood bodied Sussoro. Not sure if the extra $$$ for the wood body sounds better or not, but it looks beautiful.
  10. They called Pluto speakers and were in the Linkwitz room. they are active. Didnt get to hear them.
  11. You nailed that on the head. Almost word for word what my wife said when we walked into the carver room. They are beautiful to look at and I'm sure they played a big part in the way the speakers were sounding.
  12. No it was the Hyperion (7500.00) Uses a (get this) cactus cantlever. Peter said it comes with a 10 year warranty, that covers all retips it me (or may not) need. Played next to the top of the line strain guage it was IMO not in the same league.
  13. Carvers line arrays were very nice driven buy his new amps. Super clean, clear, and powerful sound, huge soundstage, lots detail, fast, listened a couple times for around 20-30 minutes each and never harsh. but big, better have ten foot ceilings. The YGA Anat ref. were a little big for the room, unless you got to be in the back row seats, then they were really good. Cleanest deepest, most detailed bass i heard from any room. The small Carmels in the same room were excellent. Best i have heard them and the only time I have heard them as good if not better than I get out of them in my room. makes me think about selling the Bat REX amp and getting one of the Krell evo 402e amps for mine, then selling my subs. Another big time eye opener for me was the new top of the line Soundsmith cartridge. WOW! it had zero weaknesses i could hear on two lengthy listening sessions.
  14. I'll post some more details later. Here are general photos of most of the rooms...
  15. Officially hooked on the new Lyra cartridge. After many years of Dynavectors with a one year stint running the koetsu RSP. I'm all in with the Delos and plan on moving up to the Kleos asap. Anyone looking for a cart in any price range should try and check out the delos, in alot of ways as good as i have heard regardless of $$$
  16. Thanks, I've been searching, but seems like a ton of different options on each cartridge.
  17. Anyone here used or spent time with the Zyx Omega-s. (I believe he said its a 4D ?) A guy offered one in trade for my Dynavector XV-1s. I have not heard a single Zyx cartridge so have no idea of there sonic signature. thanks
  18. http://app.audiogon.com/listings/445037 Heres a used one with warranty and shipping
  19. I heard it twice at RMAF with some of the upper end Sonus Faber speakers. (maybe Elipsa) Judged on those two listening sessions. I thought the room was one of the very lower systems I heard the entire weekend. Like swt61 said, the NAD M2 would be one of my choices. I have heard it with Maggies, Totem, Vandersteens, and Rega speakers and the sound was always good to very good.
  20. I think the Lyra is where its going to stay in far as any burn in change. The midrange has gotten a little more forward and fleshed out some. I've been pulling out a bunch of records since I got home from work last night. I'm off today, and cant break away from the music. This has evolved into a killer good cartridge. The way its sounding now it is very close to the XV-1s, I think its better than the Rosewood signature Platinum and the XX2 MKII cartridges were. I'm going to go for the Kleos and when the Dyna gets back have fun comparing.
  21. Around 11 hours on the cartridge and its sounding good. Very good dynamics, maybe better than the Dynavector XV-1s. Great extention in both directions, lots of detail. Brighter, but not more detailed than the XV-1s. technically right up there, musicly not on par with the XV-1s. At the least, in the class of the Dynavector XX2 MKII, for a few hundred bucks less. Its super quiet, balanced from top to bottom, huge soundstage, and tracks like a champ. Makes me wonder how good the Kleos is? If I had not been using the Koetsu Rosewood sig. platinum, and Dyna XV-1s over the last few years i wouldnt be noticing some of the shortcomings of this cartridge. It will get lots of play time, but the XV-1s will go back on when it gets home. Anyone looking for an under $2K cartridge should check one of these out. If makes any major changes from here on in I will post them.
  22. Got a Lyra Delos from TTVJ to use while my Dynavector heads off for a rebuild. On my way to the cave to mount it now. I'll post some thoughts on it after a weekend of listening.
  23. To me the Classics sound is not on par with the Scout series tables. Although faster, and slightly more detailed sounding, they tend to sound a little thin to me. I have only heard the Classic1, so the 2 or 3 model might be better. I miss my VPI SSM/JMW combo. After a couple months with the Michell/SME setup, I find it lacking in its overall performance compared to the VPI and realize that it is going to be very $$$$$ to do better than what I had.
  24. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY, and a special, extra, Merry Christmas to Purk and Jia. Hope all is well and you can take some time to enjoy the day!
  25. RIP Smokin Joe One of the best, during a time loaded with great heavyweights. (That actually fought each other)
