TTVJ has two great deals on Scout tables right now. 1100.00 gets you the Scout with arm, 1350.00 gets you Scout with signature arm. warranty, and 30 day trial period. the Sig arm is well worth the extra cash. I think they are used (demos?) in excellent condition.
I used the HP-2 with my SDS and (mainly) with an old Gilmore V1 amp. The best thing I can say about them is they absolutly were beyond painful with my head and glasses.....However i still loved the way they portrayed the music and listened on a daily basis. IMO far and away the Grado I have had. including RS1 (SE and balanced), PS-1(balanced) 225, 325,
Come on down the second week of April. You can learn for yourself. We will be taking down a rink and rebuilding it. Have to have it done in three weeks. Its on sand and is going to be a real pain in the ass since the sub floor heater has been down for over a year. Lots of fun. Plus you can learn the joys of what cold feet really are when you spend 7-10 hours straight on the ice during painting.
Speakers rule the listening world! I have been really enjoying my system even more than normal over the last month or so. Spinning vinyl 4-5 hours a day. In my case, headphones are no longer an option.
With the way the tuesday episode ended the crap is going to hit fan next week. I really like this show alot. This, 24, and Las Vegas (which really screwed up the way it might end) are the only shows I have watched over the last couple years.
I tried a comparison, but all I have are the thick plastic hangers. The Monsters were better than them by quite a bit when used in my system.
HOWEVER! when I tried to hang my pants up on the monster cables they were not as good as the coat hangers!! I guess its a wash.
I think it looks great. If its even better with the HE90s than the ES-1,(which is as good as I have heard headphones) It would be the only temptation away from speakers out there for me.
All the above are good for new vinyl. I have had good luck with the $1 no reserve auctions on audiogon.
Also, A wet cleaner is A MUST, if you dont have one already.
I like the 1.6s alot. But would give up a little lower freq. and look for a used pr. of the 3-way PCS stand mount Thiels. They are (to my ears) a much more refined and smoother sound.
Welcome back to civilization Mike! Get Purk to loan you that newer model Supra he has with the high voltage upgrade and see if it will work for you. If not, why not just wait the few months and have your SDS upgraded by Mikhail? Just use the ZD until it gets back. Its going to be hard to find as nice as sounding amp as your toaster SDS. I would have it upgraded.
