  1. I don't know what I have, Haj, to tell you the truth. It's a white squarish box. That's all I know.
  2. I'm going in to chat now, Amos, but my neighbor's wireless network is even slower than my 3g on my ipad.
  3. So, I had an appointment with supposedly one the the two best ankle guys in Florida, and the news is pretty good considering wasn't great to begin with. Basically, I have end-stage arthritis, but blah blah knew that already. Basically, there's nothing much that can be done for me blah blah blah, etc. BUT....here's where it gets good...he thinks I won't have to have surgery for at least two to four more years if I "cooperate." I can still do CrossFit (he's familiar with it) if I add a few more modifications to the ones I'm already doing, wear a brace, and if it doesn't affect it negatively, though he said I'll probably have to quit within two years. He's gave me a prescription for yet another NSAID, Meloxicam, which he said he's had success with, and he wants me to take daily for a few weeks, but then only PRN (good, since I don't want to be doing the daily pill thing). And, as long as I got to have this thing, at least I now have a permanent handicap tag for the car. Excellent parking spots for me from here on out!
  4. Yes, I'm one of those annoying people who basically never learned how to do anything myself, and now have a problem I don't know how to troubleshoot so need someone to help me out yet again. Last night around 11PM, my wireless connection suddenly disappeared, but my computer asked me if I wanted to connect to another network, so I connected to a neighbor's unsecured whatever. Today, I get home from work and try to find out what's going on, the modem and the airport express have all the right lights lit up, but I don't know what my network was called, have no idea what my password was if I even knew at all, and now don't know how to start to figure it out. Any ideas? I'll buy anyone who can tell me what to do in a way that I can also understand dinner and a few good beers. Thanks and sorry in advance.
  5. Congrats, Ian.
  6. Eeek. Food poisoning is bad, but glad you're better. I went to the gym this morning, started a bunch of things around the house I didn't finish, paid some bills, and listened to a lot of music. Nice day.
  7. Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
  8. Matt, when's the move date?
  9. I'm the same, except rather than buying a cd or two of an artist or mood and taking my time with it, I'll start in one place and then obsessively find more by that artist or by artists they worked with or were influenced by or sound similar to, and on and on, and then buy twenty I don't get around to listening to.
  10. The Fabulous Ginn Sisters - You Can't Take A Bad Girl Home This is one of my new favorite cds, reminding me in a weird way of Mary Margaret O'Hara's Miss America if she had listened to a lot of Tom Waits and if Tom Waits were a sultry female singer from Texas....okay, that made sense in my brain. I like every song on it, which is not a common experience for me. Check it out.
  11. Calexico - The Black Light
  12. Nine cds, including pre-order for the new Los Lobos, and one book of essays by Flannery O'Connor, since I've been reading her short stories again lately. These will be my last non-necessity purchases for awhile. Starting tomorrow, I'm on a new plan, officially titled Enjoy What You Already Have, You Gluttonous Fool. Yup, I've been cleaning out my house, and I'm totally blown away by how much great stuff I have that I don't even remember having. What's worse, as far as cds go, I have many I don't even remember buying, have some I never even opened, have multiple copies of a few, some unopened, and same with some books. Egad. In the past month, I've probably bought 40 cds, a few books, a couple guns, an ipad, clothing.......and I'm not even taking the time to enjoy them without moving on to the next thing. If it weren't for the fact I'm liking finding all this good stuff, I'd be completely appalled. Does anyone remember when you were a kid and you bought an album or two and played them multiple times a day for months before getting another one? I'm going to get back to that at least somewhat, and take a three month break from toy purchases. To be realistic, I'm giving myself a one cd a week allowance, and can buy a book only after I've finished reading the last one bought. That seems about right to me.
  13. There's a real good chance we were at more than one show together. I'd heard it moved and that it sucked, but even by the mid 90s it had gotten too cool for itself and was already on its way to suckdom. As they say, all good things must come to pass. Calexico - Feast of Wire
  14. Leo Kottke - 6 & 12 String Guitar
  15. I used to go to the Knitting Factory at least a few times a month. This cd just kicked up memories of seeing bands like Spanish Fly. I could picture hearing this cd there. Paul Duncan - Be Careful What You Call Home Another one from one of my cd boxes that I don't remember buying and hadn't even opened yet. I like it.
  16. Billband - Blurred I found this in one of my cd boxes. I swear I have never seen it/heard it before, which has me reconsidering why the heck I'm buying new stuff when I don't even know that I have quite enjoyable stuff already. Anyway.....trumpet, saxophone, bass clarinet, piano, violin, and drums in compositions that remind me of the Knitting Factory in the early 90's. Good Sunday morning music.
  17. Hockey - Mind Chaos Yes, I checked them out because of the name, but they're really rather good, though a bit more on the pop side than I usually go for. I'm not sure what's up with me liking these Portland, OR bands lately, but here's another one I do.
  18. Don't worry about John, Jeff. It's almost 11:00, and it's his bedtime soon.
  19. Various artists - Classic Mountain Songs from Smithsonian Folkways If you like this sort of thing, these are really wonderful songs done well.
  20. And now I'm jealous. Tell the guys I said hello.
  21. I'm not quite sure anyone here has those headphones, and wasn't/isn't the uDac the biggest FOTM around?
  22. ^ nice. Trampled by Turtles - Palomino
  23. Washed and waxed two cars. I don't think I've done this by myself in years. I don't think I'll be doing it again. And it just started raining.
  24. Wow. That was fast. Congrats!
  25. Ethan, I checked out a few Willie & Lobo CDs, and liked them, but they seemed a bit slick for my taste, so I picked up the Live in Concert and am enjoying it right now. I have The Rodeo Eroded, but forgot about it completely, so thanks. So, I'm still making it through the suggestions in this thread, but mostly listening to a lot of what I picked up the past month and liking almost all.
