Mike, that's beautiful!

Only the smilie appears along with my post that you quoted. That's weird. It also seems to be the only post affected as far as I can tell.

Gene, I'd forgotten about the bathtub shots! Wonderful! -
She only thinks she hates non-rollers. The Tri-Star with a couple nifty packing cubes and the uber-comfy Absolute Strap will win anyone over. My mom (Ms. Roller Only) now wants one. Also, I'll show you my Little Swift next week. It's a really nice bag. Get one for her and then a little something for you, right?

Well, you know I did that already One of the main selling points was that in a few places I read that this towel didn't tend to smell bad after a couple uses, whereas other travel towels did. You can also put it in the dryer, which you can't with some other towels. Also, it supposedly feels closest to a real towel in comparison to others. Since I plan on using it near daily, these things are important. The only negative thing I read was a warning that the color tended to bleed in the first couple washings.

Oh, and I bumped into another One Bag site: http://www.onebag.com This is a strictly informative site (no forum), and the guy, Doug Dyment, seems to have also helped design both the Skytrain and Airboss. I had no idea there was such a thing as a "one bag" type movement out there, and I do find it amusing that it's pretty much what we knew and were doing 30 years ago, but I will say that the technology has improved greatly since then, especially with bags and clothing, and I've learned a few things over the past couple days of looking around (what's the best clothesline, best travel towel, etc.).

Poor Dinny, the trick is to just buy it for her (speaking as a gal, the tri-star would be a great gift), and borrow it when needed since you're such a frugal guy, or buy it as a daypack for when you are out and about with Little Monkey (the good dad angle). Now, not one of us here believes Mrs. Monkey is capable of being so easily manipulated as that, but in combo with a Craig's Listing one or more of your current bags or anythings, I think it couldn't be too objectionable.

Extra Large (29" x 55") Aquis Adventure Microfiber Towel for upcoming trip and and as a post-workout shower towel, since I shower at work after going to the gym.

Amos, I have an Eagle Creek 15" Pack-It Folder, which I quite like, but have only used twice, mostly because I don't travel enough to remember I own it when I do travel. Dinny, re the travel towels, I just bought an Aquis Adventure Microfiber Towel in Extra Large (29" X 55"). As I don't want to contribute to the potential towel shortage in upcoming trip, I chose this one because various web reviews seem to indicate it's as comfy or comfier than other travel towels and dries more quickly than some. It's also more expensive, but oh well. The final deciding factor was that amazon sells it, and since I'm someone's grandmother, Prime will get it to me in two days without shipping costs. I'm hoping it works out. I go the the gym in the morning, take a shower at work, and have been having to hang a wet towel (use a very thin beach towel) on a hanger in my office, which isn't exactly attractive, and the towel's still wet by the end of the day; it's that or stuff it in my gym bag and have everything very wet and stinky when I get home. I'm hoping this towel will solve that problem.

Skullguise, good luck on the job! This is very interesting to me. Do you have links to studies I can access?

That is weird. I've never heard of such a thing.

Yes, it does.
-
It is. I had no idea that such sites existed until today. Some good information, but talk about zealots.......

I was looking for recommendations on travel towels and bumped into site that's actually devoted to people who like to talk about using only one bag for travel (we are not weird at all by comparison). I found this quote entertaining:

Sorry, Nate. Other than the hope your infection clears, it sounds all bad. Funny how just reading words can make you wince.

Yes like no or.

The medium cafe bag I ordered (black/steel) is apparently back ordered, and there will be a delay of months. I didn't want any of the other colors they had in stock, so I picked up a Little Swift instead.

Amos, my bag weighs just over three pounds, so if I load it up with with 15 or so more pounds of clothing and whatnots, carrying it around with an excellent shoulder strap and/or the backback straps is still easier,in my opinion, than lugging around a wheeled carry-on. I've had both. My last carry-on was a really nice, small wheeled thing. When I finally killed it a month ago, I knew I wanted one with no wheels this time. It's so much more practical. If it comes to the point I can no longer carry 20 pounds around, I'm going to have them wheel me around the airport instead. You may have much heavier stuff than I take with me, so I'm not passing judgment, but just sayin'.......

Okay, just did a little test, since my mother was telling me that my bag was too small to pack for anything other than an overnight trip. I took my dad's clothing (he's about 6' 220 lbs) and bundled wrapped them in a large packing cube: one pair heavy khakis, two pair dress slacks, five heavy polo shirts, one lightweight polo shirt, two button-down shirts, two t-shirts. I could have fit in one more pair of slacks and/or a couple lighter shirts. This all neatly packed into the rear third of the tri-star with no bulging in or outward. I also tried it with my own clothes: one pair of jeans, one pair heavy khakis, two sweatpants, one big fluffy but lightweight sweater, one cotton cardigan, four long-sleeve cotton shirts, one blouse, three t-shirts, three camis. Again, it all easily fit in the large packing cube and simply slid into the rear third of the tri-star. I love this bag! Shelly, depending on what else you need to bring with you, because you're small, I don't know how much more space you could possibly want. I think guys have a bit more to deal with, especially if they have to pack suit or sports coats, and because their shoes take up so much more space. If I were a guy and had to do any kind of business travel I'd get the airboss, if only for the extra space that would allow for a suit coat. If I were just pleasure traveling, I'd have a hard time deciding between bags and it would probably come down to personal taste, leaning more toward the Skytrain or Aeronaut for the backpack options.
