  1. Buddy Miller - The Majestic Silver Strings Though I suspect it's not to most's taste here, I love it.
  2. I've been out of this thread for awhile. Time to drop back in. First this: Blackie and the Rodeo Kings - Kings and Queens and now this: Gregg Allman - Low Country Blues
  3. Got up this morning, cooked for a party, then went out for a supposedly brutal (as advertised) workout with my co-workers to a sports performance gym next door to my job. I'd been talking to my co-workers over the past couple days, since most of them are really athletic and in shape, telling them to not expect much from me. Turns out the exercises were all easy versions of what we do in CrossFit every day. Example: 3 sets of AMRAP (one min) squat to overhead presses with a medicine ball; in Crossfit you then throw it up 10 feet to a little spot on the wall then catch before starting out again. Outside of the two other Crossfitters who showed up, I looked like a star, minus the fact I'm still the fattest Then went to a party at Crossfit for the end of the 6-week MVT Challenge. Although I really didn't think I'd lost much body fat and only lost 4 lbs., after pinching my fat all over my body with calipers, I'm down 15.6%. Although I'm still struggling with the meat thing (mostly a texture thing), and psychologically getting into it, I have to admit I feel better than I have in years. I actually feel really great. Other than a couple stolen French Fries, and a tiny bit of cheese plus some cream on my berries, I've stuck to a strict paleo diet for 6 weeks: garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, fish, nuts and seeds, little starch, some fruit, and no sugar. It's weirdly easy, and I have zero cravings for cheat food right now, though will have cheat meals if I want them. All in all a good experience. I just woke up from a little nap, and think it's time to listen to some cds I got last week but haven't had time to hear yet while avoiding cleaning the kitchen.
  4. Egad! Have to say I was greatly relieved when it's path veered away from here, but this is sounding pretty horrible for way too many people. Stay safe, folks.
  5. I'm good with the date and time.
  6. Just catching up with this thread...glad your mom is better, Dusty. Congrats, Chris and Shelly for house and fame. Brent, hang in there! I've got nothing really, which is good. Work was good this week. It's nice having John around town again and eating out at new, nice restaurants. Been really getting into Crossfit again lately, though the German Volume Training they've been into lately is killing me. Yesterday, it was Front Squats (65 lbs) and I'm really sore today. I failed out on the 8th rep on the 8th set, but came back to complete sets 9 and 10. That was the pre-WOD workout, and the rest was mostly upper body/cardio stuff (20 min. AMRAP dips, situps, ring rows, double unders, 400m row). Went to the regular gym today, but it's just boring. I'm thinking to call my dad to see how he's doing, then taking a serious nap.
  7. Sending good, healthy wishes to Dusty's mom. I spent much of the day in the hospital, but am glad to say my dad is doing great! Went with him to his afternoon physical therapy, and the others there told him to stop showing them up. He's only taking six percocets a day, and says he's fine. Today, he was up and walking. Tomorrow, they're going to teach him how to do the stairs and get in out of of cars with his walker, then then he's coming home. I'm also enjoying a kitchen that's larger than a closet (my kitchen is small), and cooking with gas again. I kinda don't want to go home.
  8. Been hanging out in the hospital since 5:30AM. My dad's surgery went well, and he's busy cursing out the Tigers' management via the TV at the moment. He claims he's in no pain at all, which is rather remarkable since he had his knee replaced around 7:00AM. He's 85, in good shape and feeling well. Go dad!
  9. I am totally jealous! Nice to see your good taste extends to rings, Jacob. It's gorgeous.
  10. Happy birthday, Tyll. Hope it's a great one!
  11. Thanks, Raffy, but I didn't get it from Amazon. Wish I had now.
  12. Oral-B Pulsonic Sonic Toothbrush I know that there are snazzier ones out there, but I like that it's small, lightweight, quiet, and the charge lasts at least a couple weeks, so it's good for travel. It also comes with a precision brush head that's good for getting in between my teeth. I put a steripod on it, and toss it in my purse to go to work:
  13. I've advanced to playing escape games, but I don't like the hard ones because I get bored too quickly and give up.
  14. Shelly, I got my size 8 NB WT10s today, the size I usually wear in NB, and they fit exactly like the 7.5 in the gray pair I have. With your experience, I'm wondering if the gray ones are sized differently, a bit larger. You might want to try a half size smaller, or order the black in your regular size just to see. My toes feel like they have room, but not like you've described.
  15. Shelly, my toes go up a little further in the shoe, and feel quite snug, but not like my toes are hitting the end of the shoe, which was what was happening with the other pair, also a 7.5. I should have my new ones today, and they're a size 8. I'll let you know how they feel.
