  1. I've been following the firefly thread on paceline and really loving the way their bikes look.
  2. ^ I think crutching around a moldly hotel while every one else rides will be too depressing. I'm going to stay home this time.
  3. I just got the word that I won't be on my bike for at least a month.
  4. Sounds like a blast, tree and all. Glad you're out and about on your new bike.
  5. Actually, I think it's the crutches that are killing me. Guys, thanks for the support, but I'm okay. This weekend will be hard when my friends are all on the ride, but life on life's terms and all that crap. At the end of the day I've dealt with far worse, and I still have my ankle, and my health, and have found that I love cycling, which I'll get back to in a few weeks.
  6. But I never would have figured crutches into it. Guess you just never know.
  7. Crutches were created to torture the injured.
  8. Damn, too big. So it looks like I'm going to be off my bike for a least a month. So sad.
  9. I can't find a geometry section on the calfee site, but that bike might fit me.
  10. Thanks, guys. All I can say is it does suck, and I'm going to take Al's advice and feel sorry for myself again today. To be determined. They put a fiberglass splint on, kinda like a half cast that they mold to your leg, then wrapped with ace bandages because it was so swollen. I'm thankful for that as I ended up unwrapping it in the middle of the night because my toes puffed up so much and the whole foot was throbbing. I got instant relief, and the swelling seems to be a bit down this morning. I'm supposed to follow up with my ankle doc tomorrow.
  11. That is certainly another type of plan. The good news is the reality that I'm going to be too focused on figuring out how to do all the things I need to do on crutches again to spend too much time feeling sorry for myself after tonight (I'm feeling very sorry for myself tonight and going for it). Taking a load of laundry out (my laundry room is in my carport) proved unsuccessful as did attempting to take out the garbage.
  12. ^ Exactly. And they give really lame pain meds now. This Tramadol is worse than worthless.
  13. Guys, thank you so much. Due to your donations, I more than met the goal to ride. All your funds will be well used. Sadly, I sprained and got a hairline fracture of my ankle today, and it doesn't look like I'll be able to ride. I'm really really sad, but the funds raised still all go to a great cause so at least I can feel good about something. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
  14. ^ nice. My news is not so nice. It doesn't look like I'll be riding for at least a few weeks. Hairline fracture and bad sprain. I feel crushed.
  15. Well, I'm in a room in the ER, which they say is for express patients. I think it used to be a utility closet. I'm serious. There are two chairs, with me on one, and a wastebasket. That's all that fits. if I were any fatter I wouldn't fit.
  16. Two bags of frozen veggies on the ankle for the past few hours aren't working. I'm off to the ER to get this thing checked out. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck.
  17. ^ why do that when others can do that for you?
  18. Feel better people. Mike, congrats on 26 years with a wonderful woman. I rode my bike this morning to work, but it's still there. We had a carnival for the alums, families, and patients, which was a blast until the end. I was the last one in the dunk tank, and first ball thrown knocked me in, with my bad ankle hitting hard on the bottom (wish someone had warned me to hold my feet up). I cannot put any weight on it at all right now, but it, otherwise, doesn't look too swollen, etc. I'm freaked because I've trained and looked forward to this charity bike ride this coming weekend for months. I'm hoping this is just a two-day injury. I'm going to be crushed if I can't ride.
  19. Thanks, guys. Hopefully, I can remember some of these. The literate bot's suggestions are definitely ftw.
  20. For those of you who about to be forced indoors: http://victorysedge.com/article_indoorbiking.htm
  21. Those are actually pretty good. I could get away with those.
