  1. John and Mike, I just found out the Vince opened his own shop in Boca. Although I'm having John do the Calfee fitting, I know where I'm taking my business after.
  2. I know this has already been making the rounds, but I like it.
  3. For Dusty and/or very stoned people. Yes, you should watch until the end.
  4. Where's Smeggy these days? Anyone heard from him?
  5. Mike, you've had more flats than anyone I know. You are definitely jinxed.
  6. Nice, Mike. So, I got good news today. My cast was supposed to come off next Monday, but my doc's office called, and they want to close early, so I get my cast off on Friday. Yay! I've already scheduled my Calfee fitting for next Wednesday. Getting closer.........
  7. Nate, I'll back out since I came in late. No need for you to buy two gifts. That's not right.
  8. Damn, Jeff. That's impressive! With all the cycling I was doing, I still only lost six pounds. I just like eating too much. This holiday season is going to kill me with temptations, but I'm sticking to my diet. I made it through Thanksgiving and one holiday party so far. The big work one, where everyone brings in homemade goodies, is Tuesday, so if I can get through that, I think I'll be good until New Year's. My plan is to be at my goal weight by Spring, or as I like to call it, Kirk time. Hoping getting back on the bike, minus big eating, will do that for me.
  9. Maybe you became a menopausal woman when you weren't looking. That would explain the no sleep thing. Just a thought.
  10. Nate, I agree. I'm definitely going to start slow, and I already have a trainer set up in my living room. I'm just excited to get my cast off. I'm going to make an appointment to get the Calfee fitted and get some pedals on it, so when I'm ready to ride, I'll have a nice new toy to try. This was a real wake up call for me, and I'm going to be taking extra precautions with my ankle in every way. First order of business is to drop poundage. I'm 12 pounds down since the accident. Only 30 more to go
  11. ^ Okay, now that's just creepy plus.
  12. They also ride on sand. I've seen a couple around here, but I don't think they'd actually let you ride on the beach. I want to try one out just out of curiosity, but would have no use for one. John, how did you like that ride? I think I told you going north is far nicer, especially in the morning with no traffic or lights. I'm getting my cast off on Christmas Eve, so am hoping to be back on my bikes by the new year, even if going short and slow. I'm starting to work out with my trainer again tomorrow morning 5:30AM (eeeek....I guess I lost my 6:30AM spot when I stopped for a bit). I wonder how much muscle/strength I've lost while doing nothing at all for six weeks?
  13. Yay, I got Nate. This will be easy.
  14. Which Zipps? Parris, it's time for pictures of your Kirk. Just sayin'.........
  15. Happy birthday, gents!
  16. Yay. I loved that show, but with the intention of not spending a penny, I walked out $4000 poorer. That decides it. I know me. I'm canceling my plans for the show this year. Money will best spent towards the bike rather than something else I'm sure to buy.
  17. Most definitely this ^
  18. Just read Dave Kirk's answer to my post on paceline, and he will not be attending NAHBS. I really want to go just to see everything, but between plane, hotel, and extra monies I'm sure to spend, the debate I'm having in my head now is between using that money towards the bike or going to the show. I'm leaning towards putting that $1000ish towards the bike. I don't have to decide tonight, but since I'm expecting my name to come up in late February or early March to start the build process, the timing is saying "bike." If Dave were going, I'd be booking my plane ticket now, but that really does change things. Maybe I should start planning for the 2014 show.
  19. I'm getting it off December 24th at 4PM. The deal is that although I've been able to walk around with the cast this past week, once it was removed, that didn't work out so well. It's definitely getting better, but needs a bit more time. He did give me the okay to start weight training again, as long as I'm not putting extra weight on my leg and am not sweating much (mostly so I don't have a stinky cast). This happened November 8th, and I haven't done any exercise except crutching my fattage around, and I can already tell I'm losing what muscle I had. So, I'm excited about that. I can deal with two more weeks as long as it means it will be better for me in the long run.
  20. New purple cast. Shoulda gone orange, but.......
  21. Fuck 'em. Exactly. Get Edwood drunk at Al's and convince him to design it. I have faith. I had a good day at work capped off with a nice dinner with John. Good day.
  22. Congrats to Al and whole family!
  23. I'd prefer April myself. I'm just going to have to wait and see how much damage I've done, and how being old affects my ability to snap back and get in shape. Goals really motivate me, and if I can ride well at all by end of February (30-40 miles, decent speed), I'd start pulling myself together for a great trip in April. What kind of riding are we talking about? Mileage per day? er...hills? I'm still in my pink cast, but am excited about planning something. I missed the two rides I was excited for this year (Miami to Key West, and the Sebring event Mike, John, and Raffy just did this weekend), and I need something to look forward to. Oh, and congrats again re kiddo #2. Brent, you really have to read more around here.
  24. It would have to be April at the very earliest for me, Chris. If I can't start riding until February, I doubt I'll be ready to do anything really fun in March. May would probably be a better choice for me, if possible, and I might even have the Kirk by then.
  25. Brent, I think I gotta stay away from mountain biking, even if I know I would love it. My ankle is already destroyed with, per the MRI, zero cartilage left. Can't deal with the jarring. Chris, it's going to be Spring before I can ride anything worth traveling for as far as I can guess. I don't even know when I can get back on a bike right now, and then have to see how sucky I got in a few months off. I'll know more in about a month. I would love to do something in the Carolinas.
