Good day. Wish I was with family, but can't complain with the gorgeous weather, a day off work, and feeling good. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday.

I love the Firefly bikes! They're freaking gorgeous, and from what I've obsessively read, top notch in terms of build, etc. Get it, Jeff! Here's a thread to help you drool: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=105319

That's a good idea, aerius. I have a workout scheduled at 5:30 three miles from my house. I could easily ride there and back. Oh....almost forgot. I'm getting the Calfee fitted tomorrow after work. So many good things happening all at once! Can't tell you how happy I feel right now. Nice toys, Nate. I got a $25 gift certificate to a local bike shop from my secret santa at work. Hoping they have the one gloves I actually like. If not, I'll pick up some gels in anticipation of longer rides coming soon.

Happy birthday to two great guys!

Whoa, Santa Nate was good to me. I just opened my gift and I scored three CDs, all of which interest me, none that I have, and my only problem is which one to play first. Very happy!

Just did 20 miles! They were 20 slow miles, and by slow I mean it took me 1:40:42. Still, I'm thrilled. The ankle was fine, though it's stiffened up on me since getting home (not painful, just locked, which is wonderful as far as I'm concerned), the calf was fine, but what's funny is that my hamstring near my knee was the thing that was not liking me. I'd forgotten that I hadn't been using that muscle either. Oh well. I was in a very easy gear, and just spun. The thing that was most shocking is how quickly my conditioning went out the window. Just two months ago, my heart rate would have been somewhere between 100 and 120 for what I was exerting today. It was in the 140s most of the ride. Damn. Anyway, I'm back, bitches (as I think the kids are saying these days). Too bad I have to work tomorrow. The weather is perfect for nice, lazy, spins around town.

Yay Mike! That's a good Monday.....or Tuesday or Wednesday......

Yay Ken! Happy birthday!

Antonio, Orbeas are fairly popular and respected here in South Florida. Maybe not as common as Specialized or Trek, but I see quite a few around, and know a few people, my coach for one, who ride and love them.

Mike, John and Raffy, I'm in. How about you? http://www.delraybeachtwilight.com/

^ Nice. Big congrats!

^ mountain biking is definitely not for me. I only made it seven miles, but I made it seven miles. I was hoping for ten, but my calf starting cramping a bit around mile three, so I knew it was time to turn around. I had just started developing muscle in my calf, but I pretty much lost it all (was able to slide my hand down my both casts, even after a week of each being put on, though they were tight at first), so that didn't surprise me. My ankle felt good until right about the time I was pulling into my neighborhood, then it started to object. Still, I'm hopeful. It was absolutely gorgeous out, and I enjoyed pedaling slowly around town, actually noticing a couple places I'd never seen before though had ridden by them daily. I'm just going to take my time getting back to things. I may have to learn how to clip and unclip with my left foot, but that, quite frankly, freaks me out. We'll see. Jeff, I love that bike, but then, as you know, that's the type of bike I would. I hope it works for you.

John, what shop are you talking about? I'm putting air in my tires and headed out the door soon. I wanted to get out earlier, but it was just too cold and not the best for an arthritic ankle's first outing in two months. The sun is shining and it's gorgeous! One more cup of coffee.

Did errands. Despite the cold, my ankle felt close to normal, which is good. I'm going to get on my bike tomorrow and see if I can get maybe 10 slow miles in. I wanted something crunchy to munch on this evening, and everything I love is a current no-no, so I made kale chips. Was easy, fast and not bad. Can't believe the day blew by as fast as it did.

^ Thanks. I just picked up Rolling Stone and Vegetarian Times, both for under $10. That's nuts.

Well, I'm even worse. I couldn't get out to mail things until today (damn job), but refusing the rip-off prices to ship anything quickly, Nate will hopefully be getting a nice New Year's gift, though the gift store lady (my shipping place) told me it might even be after. Oh well. I hope you still like it. If not, blame Mike. It was his rec

This is a weird little site I bumped into a couple weeks ago. It's mostly old still of hollywood stars or never-really-made-it actors on bikes. I don't understand why, but at least in my case, it's weirdly addictive, as in I keep going to the next page and the next page and the next page... http://ridesabike.tumblr.com/

Love ya, Wayne! As for me, I got my cast off. I ran a couple errands, walked around a bit, and it's definitely stiffened up on me since and is sore, but what the hell, I'm not going to care about that, I'm happy!

So the cast is off!!!!! I walked out of the doc office, wandered around Whole Foods for a bit, and it feels pretty good. It's definitely sore, but nothing unmanageable. Right after I left Whole Foods, I went over to Vince's new shop, since it was only a couple miles away. Mike, John's already been there, but if you go, it's a bit hard to find as it's sorta way back in an industrial complex (Boca Design Center). Very cool small shop he's still getting set up. Don went over there with him. Right now, the only bikes he's selling are Eriksen and Scott, though that will change. I talked to him quite a bit, and I'm actually going to have him fit the Calfee for me. It's going to be an old school fitting, minus all the technology, but I trust him. He asked if I had a picture of the Calfee, which I did, and he said he didn't think it was going to be as much of an issue as I had thought with the seat height. He pointed out that the Vitesse that is currently on the bike has pretty high rails, and just switching saddles, if necessary, would take off the height I was worried about. He also said that I could sell it in seconds flat as the honey colored is supposedly rare and wanted. Anyway, Wednesday is the day! Mike, that looks like fun, and I'm definitely jealous as I'll never be able to do that. John's talking about getting a mountain bike now, and I fear I have lost my riding partners.

So excited. I get my cast off today. I'm going to break out the Raleigh 3-speed and ride around the neighborhood this weekend to get started and see how my ankle feels.

MacBook Pro or Macbook air need advice
boomana replied to bozebuttons's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
Nice choice, Tom. I bought my mom a 11" Air for Christmas. I got the Applecare, mostly because I know she would want it, but I also got her a year of one-on-one lessons, which I think she'll need and also enjoy. I don't know if that's something that might work for your wife as well, but it wasn't really expensive iirc. You can only sign up for it when you get a new computer, so if that's something you might want to consider....... -
Happy birthday
