  1. If you were a crepuscular animal, what would you be?
  2. Hah! Saw your post. Perhaps only a metaphorical public spanking was in order. I doubt he's fool enough to argue further (though maybe I'm wrong), and my money's on him disappearing after he buys his bitch-attracting headphones. I wonder what bitch-attracting headphones look like?
  3. I want my own forum! There's a new pompous ass (version: whiteboy gansta wannabe knowitall on mommie's dime talking bitches, kahnts, and video game meaning of life theology) over at head-fi asking for advice on "stylish" headphones. If I had my own forum, I'd be allowed to put diapers on him and publically spank him or drop him into an actual hood and webcast how well he survives once he says a bitch or kahnt to a real one. I shouldn't have bothered with his spit at all, but I wanted to set him up to see if he'd fall. He did actually type out C_U_N_T_S, but nothing else. Then I got nice. I'm a wimp. I still want my own forum, though.

Did not mean to upset so. It came from a website about nutty patents, any one of which I found thoroughly amsuing. My sense of humor, I guess. I just picture the inventor trying out different models, getting his friends and family involved. "Here, honey, try this new hose. Did that work better than the last one?"
  5. Keep unattended tubes away from cats. Bored cats love tube rolling.
  6. I liked the B52/PS1 combo. It was close to a year ago when I heard it, so I'll leave out time-addled impressions, but I've since heard PS1s on systems I liked and didn't like, and I remember liking that one quite a bit. I should have a chance to hear it again in a couple weeks, so I'll see if new impressions match old memories.

  8. Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) 86.76 % Hmmmm. I never would have thought that.
  9. I pulled Gene's set up from another thread: Accuphase DP-77 player through a Plinius M8 preamp and Accuphase A-20 power amp. Hydrocity: not a chance...at least not yet.
  10. There will be at least two, Gene's and mine. I think he's using an Accuphase source and amp right now. I'm going to to try it out with my F1 and Heed Obelisk and use whichever sounds best. I have no idea what source I'll have by CanJam time.
  11. BTW, Gene's will be at the Oct 27th Florida meet, so I'll get a preview...or a prelisten...before mine arrives, and since a few K1000 amps will be present, it will be a nice chance for a comparison. I think the new shipping dates are expected to be between 20-30 days from now.
  12. The story is that after this group buy, no one will be able to order directly, only through a distributor, so the cost is expected to rise significantly. I forget the estimated amount, but it was scary.
  13. I know. That's why I did it. Approx. $1500.
  14. I know, Gene's report does sound good. He owns or has owned all the mentioned headphones, plus a slew of others. Also, I have never known him to be prone to exaggeration or new toy syndrome. He'll say nothing at all until he's sure. We've also shared similar opinions on other headphones (e.g., the Denons), so I trust his ears moreso than others' who opinions I may also respect. I'm very excited.
  15. Hah! You caught my post. Yes, I ordered it. Agile_one's already received his, and based on his pm's, all other reports are true. Here's a copy/paste...Gene, I hope you don't mind....: Well, the TakeT H2 and TR2 (XLR) arrived yesterday, so last night was spent getting them into the K1000 rig, and giving a listen. After doing so, there is no question that these can compete with the best - HE90, Omega II, R10, L3000, K1000. Yes, they are that good, and ready to play with the big boys. The most overwhelming impression is, "natural sounding". Pretty much the most speaker like experience I've had with headphones. Huge, but not overwhelming bass, exquisite detail, micro and macro dynamics to spare, and imaging that seems just right. A whole lot to like with these. It will be really interesting when Aaron and Wayne get theirs and can directly compare to HE90, OII, and R10, as I am doing only from memory. Perhaps the best description is that the H2 is the perfected K1000. That, to me, is a very good thing. How could I resist when already soooooo tempted? I just did 38 hrs OT, and which should more than cover costs, even if I aged 10 years this week. I still plan on having Alex hardwire the Ks. He's told me that the v3 will be ready this Friday. I'm going to hold off only 'til I receive the TakeT so I can compare with my stock Ks, then compare with the hardwire. Now comes the exquisite waiting period...
  16. Have you mentioned the meet to Mikhail? I swear that the the two times he had my amp after I bought it, only the mention of upcoming meets got it to my doorstep after numerous "almost dones." He even overnighted it the last time to guarantee its appearance.
  17. Somehow that analogy is not one that brings comfort. However, amp builders have taught me patience and I can wait. I waited three months for my last SinglePower upgrades and I'm still waiting for my Diablo (the new word from Larry is that we should see them by next week... ).
  18. Oh.
  19. I saw Wilco about two years ago in an open-air amphitheater in Pompano, FL. I had seats on the center aisle around eight rows back and I was thinking that these are about the best seats possible for this show. It was a perfect night, about 75 with a breeze. I was super happy. I don't remember who it was, but someone in the band suddendly called the whole audience down to the front. There was this huge rush of people, and because I was on the aisle, I never saw a thing the rest of the show. Only people over 6 feet moved right in front of me, wouldn't even let me stand in front of my own seat, and I had beer poured down the back of me. Jeff Tweedy yells out at some point, "I bet the old people are really pissed off." I remember saying to myself, "Yes, I am," then looking around me and realizing I was probably the only old person in the crowd, and the only one pissed off. Ah well. I saw Al Alison Krauss about two weeks later from the same seats, so that made up for it.
  20. I don't have nuts either. Who is Matt?
  21. And nary a typo in sight. Alex responded to my email. That was nice and fast. The v3 hasn't yet been released (he only said soon), but stated that it's been two years in development. I'm curious enough to bite, but am waiting for time and price estimates. Listened to my Ks this afternoon. Arvo Part's Lamentante. Stunning.
  22. Well, I emailed Alex. We'll see how it goes from here.
  23. Okay, this thread's been totally derailed, and partially by me, but back to my original question, we've got one vote for Equinox and one for apuresound (but I don't yet know why). These were numbers one and two on my list before I posted. Oh, and one vote for Fitz. Has anyone else other ideas based on what've you've heard? Nate, making building stand up is a good thing. I'd like to formally thank all structural engineers now.
  24. X2 Oh, and as for old, as some of you know, I gave up my middle school teaching job this year to continue working in drug rehab (I've been doing that 8 years) as I couldn't do two jobs and longer, and this pays twice as much. Anyway, we've a crop of college freshmen crash and burn binge drinkers in right now: smart-ass, rich, entitled, punk boys from Greenwich, CT. It's like doing adolescent treatment, which is NOT what I signed up for. I not only feel old, I feel homicidal.
