  1. The Power3 I was wondering how long it would take before somesuch would be mentioned. I'm actually impressed it took so long. That's why free is good. Biggie, outta curiosity, where were you trying to get rid of your Wolff Bohica?
  2. Maybe we've owned crappier headphones than you.
  3. Exactly.
  4. I do think being a woman sometimes has it's advantages in audioland. I don't know if it's the reason here, but from the tone of the email, I suspect it was. It has definitely worked for me on audiogon twice. I never really play that card, but usually, they first say they're surprised, then say they're feeling generous, and then offer me a lower price than I offered them. Go figure. It makes up for getting ripped off in carland.
  5. I like free stuff, so was sad to learn about the Virtual Dynamics power cord give-away after it was over. I emailed them today, just to see, and got a rather friendly response from some guy named Rick who said he was feeling generous. Nice. Too bad they're probably sending it to someone who won't be able to hear a difference, but I'll give it a go at least. Right now I've got two different Cardas on my amps, and a PS Audio on my source. They've been on "indifinite loan" from agile_one since I got the amps and CDP, since they didn't come with power cords. I don't know what others sound like, so this should be interesting...I hope. Anyway, I like free stuff. Good free stuff is even better
  6. Can some one with technical knowledge PLEASE call this guy out. All my sensibilities are telling me this can't can't can't be right, but the best I can say is that it looks like pumpkin carving.
  7. I can't even touch that one It's not just with Ray or RSA products, it's pretty much with any strong opinion these days. Make a strong statement that is anything less than enthusiastic about a headphone, an amp, or a passing dislike of artichokes, and someone will take personal offense, start crying foul, and begin whining about snobs and slinging ad hominem attacks. It's become tedious to remain rational when it increasingly serves little purpose. Here, it's almost as bad, but in a different way. It's a preaching to the choir contrarian mentality when it comes to RSA: reverse fanboyism. I'm not saying the opinions might not be right, but it's tiring to watch at least half the threads on other topics turn into RSA bashing threads. Sorry, guys. It's boring. That said, I like visiting both places. Oh...and welcome, Nate.
  8. Nick, I was referring to every one in that thread who was bitching about the Diablo. but that was a couple weeks ago. I could care less what any one says at this point. Larry is horrible.
  9. But do you find yourself listening to one or two more often than the rest?
  10. I do have a thing for wood and tubes, though...but don't take that comment where it doesn't need to go...
  11. Truth is that I don't remember the SR60s all that well. I had them before I found head-fi, used to take them to work with a microamp. My boss would swipe them for his own listening pleasure, and finally made off with them completely, sticking $40 in my mailbox as compensation. I couldn't really complain as he bought me an ipod a couple years ago for no reason other than overhearing me tell another I wanted one, and regularly leaves new CDs in my mailbox that he thinks I'll like. The Darths were fun headphones. I didn't listen to them often, but when I was in the mood, I loved them. People who swear by them freak me out a little, though. One reason I don't pay much attention to Skylab's portable reviews are that they are his favorite headphones, making me think he's not hearing in all those amps what's really to be heard.
  12. R10 > K1000 > HD600 > HD650 > HD580 > K340 > K701 > Ety ER4P/S > Darth Beyers > MS1 > SR60 > Proline 2500 > RP-22X The 650s and 600s change position with each other based on my mood. The K701s weren't mine, but they lived with me for three weeks.
  13. Damn. I'm such a nerd. I'm back to thinking you shouldn't have done it, even if it's funny. I guess you didn't give them a bad review, though.
  14. Just checked out your head-fi review. So far the only response is to recommend the mod. Maybe you should review the mod next. EDIT: part of me thinks you shouldn't have done it; the other part thinks it's pretty funny, especially considering so many recommendations I've seen lately are written by people who haven't heard the thing they're telling someone else to buy.
  15. I found it all a bit bizarre. I read his old review of the R10s and agreed with much of it, minus the some of the flowery language (though some I understand), but his thoughts re D5000 confuse me with what I've heard of the D5000s. Even his thoughts before the mod confused me a bit. It's just not my experience. They're nice enough, but do not sound like R10s...unless...what the heck amp is he using with R10s? I think he has that new Marantz source. That still wouldn't explain it, imo, but perhaps somewhat. It's a bit baffling.
  16. Best Team Sony pic yet. Why did you sell that pair? I thought you preferred the bass light ones.
  17. So I heard the Cosecant this weekend, and all I can say is I liked it enough to wish I could have hooked it up to my system to form an opinion that meant anything. It was hooked up to a Woo5, which I'd only heard once before, and this time, Mike had changed the stock tubes I'd heard before to WEs. I have no idea where the improvements were coming from, the tubes, the dac, my mood, all...I will say that was good enough to my ears that I'd like to investigate further some time soon. Oh, I was using K1000s, which I know fairly well.
  18. Yeah, but that bunny looks like he's been on a five-day crack run. Who knows what he's capable of? I'm changing my vote from the Clause man to the bunny, now that pictures have been brought to light.
  19. I want pictures!
  20. Nice impressions, postjack. I tried the Edition 9s for the first time this weekend. I didn't have them on long enough to form any full opinions. I understand why people are so seduced by them, especially since they meet the need for a closed headphone, but the bass was too much for me and I took them off to try other headphones I was curious about.
  21. Maybe he should send us all some so we can tell him what we think, since he seems to be lacking in the vocabulary for such commentary.
  22. Fredbot, tell us what you really think. Start small, maybe with which headphones you might like here, then work your way up to why.
  23. Santa Claus is spelled wrong, so I think mjg snuck in a ringer to fool us. My money's on the Clause guy.
  24. X2.
  25. Yes, but so far only large hints and huge tease...which I love.
